Author’s Note: Hey, I just felt like writing something, and this is the first and only version, so it may not be the best work around. Thanks.

WARNING: If you have not finished Legend of Dragoon, DO NOT READ. Also it is preferable if you read Hope of the Dragoon too.

Prelude: They flew over the desert, speeding toward Serdio as the shadow across the land grew massively large.

“Hurry, Sylvia!”

They reached Dart’s house and his wife cringed as she landed, for she was sick because of the baby. He knocked on the door and it opened.

            “Lloyd…?”

The Dragon’s Request

By: Rose.

“Silver! C’mon, we’re going to be late! AGAIN!”

“Ack!” Silver, a fifteen year old Wingly, sat up quickly and got dressed. “Coming guys!” She ran outside to see all her friends standing there, waiting for her.

“Look who’s up! It’s the sleepy head!” A pretty silver headed Wingly laughed.

“Be quiet Minda.” Silver panted. “Alright, let’s go.”

They moved forward, while Mark and Silver hung back.

“How’s your father doing, Mark?” Silver slipped her arm around him.

“He’s having a bit of trouble running the other end of the Kingdom, but he’ll manage.” He slipped his arm around her waist in return.

“Uncle Dart is having some swordplay practice today, want to go?”

“I really prefer the spear, like my father.”

“Oh, well. Guess what today is?” Silver said coyly.

“What? Miranda holding a parade again?”

“No. It’s my birthday you idiot. I’m old enough to have a Dragoon Spirit!”

“Oh, yeah. I got mine last month. I haven’t used it yet.”

“Nether have the rest of you. I’m going to try mine out the first chance I can get.”

“Good luck. Remember, Dart said they only work when you’re attacked…”

“And Shana says we should stay out of trouble. I know, I know.”

“Getting into trouble with monsters counts, too. I just don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

“I won’t get hurt! Remember, I’m the daughter of Sylvia and Lloyd, Wingly bloodlines are strong!!”

“So, I’m the son of Albert and Emile! King and Queen of Serdio!” He stopped and assumed a pose.

“Wonderful, I’m going out with a power-freak.” Silver walked up to Dart’s gate.

            “Hey, at least I’m one-of-a-kind!”

“Same old, wish it were more exciting around here.”

“It might happen. Today, Dart is going to tell us our Heritage as a Dragoon, of how they got them.”

“Sounds interesting.” They walked around back and sat down at the table on the patio, where everyone else was waiting.

“The love-birds come in, finally.” said Minda. She let her silvery-blue hair fall down around her shoulders.

            “Aww, shut up.”

“Are we all here?”  Dart came in and sat at the table. Shana, Albert, Lloyd, Miranda, Meru, and Kongol came and sat down also. Emile, Sylvia, Joshua, and Bardel were visiting in the house. “Should we have a list?”

“Kongol thinks that would be good.”

“Alright. Dart, Shana, and Zieg, here. Meru and Minda, here. Albert and Mark, here. Lloyd and Silver, here. Kongol, here. Miranda, Kithros, and Jessica, here. And Haschel. That everybody?”

“Yup. Let’s get started.” Albert said.

“Okay, you all know that you are getting your Dragoon spirits today. Zieg, you get the Red-Eyed Dragoon Spirit. Minda, the Blue-Sea Dragoon Spirit. Mark, the Winged Dragoon Spirit. Silver, the Dark Dragoon Spirit. And Jessica, the White-Silver Dragoon Spirit. Since some of us don’t have kid, we’ll just keep our own.

It all started when Shana got kidnapped and I went to rescue her. There, I met Lavitz…”

He talked on for over two hours, but we listened, fascinated. Silver was a bit shocked to know her father had sort of been on the bad side for a while. When Dart finished, we all sat, silently taking in all we had heard.

To be up to date, he finished the story of what happened after Melbu Frahma. Dart had married Shana and had Zieg. When Sylvia and Lloyd showed up, Dart had sent letters to all the other Dragoons. Kongol, being the last Gianto, had not married. Miranda married the King of a neighboring Kingdom, Joshua. Meru married Bardel, her childhood friend, and Albert had married Emile as soon as he got home. They all came, and Lloyd told them of a shadow crossing the lands, slowly creeping around the world. That was why the skies were so dark these days.

An evil was spreading across the land, but the Dragoon Spirits wouldn’t work for them, so they had to wait until we came. It was up to us to stop whatever was coming.

Mark slipped his arm around Silver’s waist secretly and squeezed her for comfort, as if to see if she was really there. “Heavy.”

“Yeah.”

“You up to it?” Dart looked around at all of us. We slowly nodded and he took out a silver box, engraved with Dragons across the top. We all stood up and formed a line as our parents watched us. Dart opened the box.

There was a flash and all the Dragoon spirits came flooding out. Two Dragoon Spirits circled around each other in front of me, one glowing black, the other a mixture of colors. Everyone gasped.

“The Divine Dragoon Spirit AND the Dark?” Haschel muttered.

“Wait, where did the Violet Dragoon Spirit go?” Shana looked around.

Silver stared at the two Dragoon spirits circling in front of her, two dragoon spirits were circling in front of Mark too, the Winged Dragoon Spirit and the Earth Dragoon Spirit. They started moving faster and faster. “Mark... look.” She whispered.

He looked at them, and they started sparking. Everyone turned to watch. Silver reached out her hand toward hers and they sped even faster, until they collided in a burst of light.

“What the?” Dart gaped at the ball of light as it resigned to Silver’s hand. Mark’s did the same and he reached for his.

The sphere burned as it landed in her hand, but Silver did not shake it off. The light faded away, leaving a black ball the size of a marble that seemed to shine with all the colors at once when the light bounced off of it. She stared down at it as they all backed away.

“There should be eight, but they fused together…” Lloyd pondered out loud.

“How did this happen?” Albert looked at the spheres closely. “They must of both been attracted to you and fused together when they couldn’t coordinate with each other properly.”

Silver looked at it more closely. The Dark Dragoon Spirit and the Divine Dragoon Spirit. They were hers. Mark stared in fascination at the greenish-brown sphere in his hand. The Earth-Wind Dragoon Spirit and the Dark-Divine Dragoon Spirit.

“Everyone, can we go inside for a minute?” Shana said, and the adults went into the house, leaving the kids to look at their Dragoon Spirits.

“Wow! This is so cool!” Minda danced around in circles.

            “Tah-da! Fire to the rescue!”

            “Water will put out that!”

“And, I’ll heal everyone when we get into trouble!”

“So, my karate skills will give you the chance to heal everyone.”

“The Dark-Divine.” Silver stared into space in wonder.

“And the Wind-Earth.” Mark sat down on a chair and Silver sat down next to him.

Minda walked up to them. “Hey! Who gets the leader role?”

Everyone gathered into a circle. “I think I should be it.” Kithros said.

“Why you?” asked Jessica, folding her arms and scowling at her twin.

            “Because I’m older.”

            “By two lousy seconds.”

            “Hey, it still counts.”

Everyone laughed as the adults came outside.

“Time to go kids.” Dart looked around at them all.

“The evil is spreading fast, and we cannot leave, our duties bind us here. I know you’re a bit younger than when we were Dragoons, but you must leave now.” Albert and Emile walked over to Mark and gave him a hug.

“Silver.” Lloyd and Sylvia walked over to her. “You are going to carry on our legacy.”

“I know Dad, Mom.” Silver stood up.

“You, just have to believe in yourself… and be… careful. We know you can do it.” Lloyd said his voice breaking.

“Why are you so sad? It’ll only be a few months.” Silver looked at them, and then knew.

“Dart’s journey took nearly five years, Silver.” Sylvia said.

“I… I didn’t realize…” Silver ran forward and hugged them.

“Be strong…” Lloyd whispered in her ear, and slipped something into her hand. It was a sword hilt, decorated with flames.

Silver pulled back and wiped at her tears, and looked at the sword hilt. “What’s this?”

“The Dragon Buster, we found it in the ruins of the Moon that Never Sets, after Rose and Zieg were killed.”

“Thanks.” Silver looked at it and imagined the flames bursting out the end, like her father had told her about it. Flames shot out of the end in a cascading torrent of orange and red flares. “Thank you.” Silver whispered to her parents.

They walked down the road, supplies, cloaks, weapons, and Dragoon spirits. They didn’t need anything else. Now began the long journey to Mille Seasau.
