Tiffany Shaw's Hope of the Dragoon~

Prelude:

The ocean sparkled as I looked from the balcony to the ocean. I wish I had never even had thought of this... but it was too late now. I was already involved in this too long. Twenty years I had made this plan, stroked it into place. It was now commencing. I had found the Moon Child, nothing was to take her away.

"We have her, my lord. The girl you told us to find is indeed the Special One... she responds to the gem you gave us."

"Good, I will come see her."

I turned and swept down the stairs. My plan was perfect, she was the right person. As I walked over to the horse they had brought for me, the commander walked over.

          "Is this really all necessary?"

"It is his Majesty, Emperor Doel's command, that we take this girl into custody."

          "Who is she?"

          "That is not, your concern."

I got onto the horse and led them out of the city as soon as we were packed. I rode ahead and looked from the top of the hill at the burning city. Pity those people. I never meant for them to be all killed.

I took one last look and rode off.

CHPT. 1 SERDIAN WAR.

I woke and looked up at the rough tiles in the ceiling. I thought about the day. That I was getting closer now to ending this and going home. I had no family to return to, but still...

My name is Lloyd. I have silver hair and brown eyes. Most people think this is unusual. I don't care. I also have a tall build and usually wear a black cloak with a hood.

Donning the clothing I was given, I looked outside to so some sort of commotion downstairs.

I looked out the door of the corridor just in time to see the girl and two men escape on horses out the bridge. One man almost didn't make it; just barely he made it over.

One man I knew not, he wore red torso armor and carried the girl in front of him on his horse. The other was Lavitz, the head of Serdio's knights the jail had caught some time earlier. He wore green and silver armor. I could believe that they had escaped, with such poor security.

I slowly walked out on the overhead bridge-path. There underneath was Frugal, the Commanding Officer, tall as he was wide, yelling at two of the guards. They took off and he looked up.

"You, how'd you get in here?!"

"You let them escape." I drew out the last word.

"I did not!!! You go after them too!!!" He yelled at another guard. He walked slowly after them to the bridge.

"No matter," I spoke aloud, "They're eating out of the palm of my hand." I chuckled softly and went down the stairs with my pack to the stable.

"Ready my horse. I have a job offer to take in Bale."

          "Yes my lord."

He gave me a black stallion with red hair. I mounted and rode off down the road.

*********************************************************

I arrived in Bale with a good promotion. The job I had applied for was occupied now, by me.

As I made my way to the castle, I looked back and to my surprise, the man in Red with his companions, the girl and Lavitz, entered into the city. They headed for a weapon shop, which was good. No use for them to see me...

I strode up the steps to see two guards confront me.

          "Who are you?"

          "Lloyd, the king's new advisor."

          "Enter."

Friendly people... I thought as I made my way up the stairs. I walked to the throne room and bowed before King Albert. He was around 26, tall with long brown hair nearly to his middle back. He had brown eyes and a rather tan complexion. He wore green, like his soldiers, with silver and leather armor, and a long green mailed cape. He carried a brown staff, and in the background was his trusty Javelin, displayed beside his throne in a transparent case.

"So, you are Lloyd." His voice was still boyish, not too deep but not too high either.

          "Yes."

"You will go to the briefing room to the left and there you will receive your instructions."

          "Yes, My Lord."

I walked to the briefing room and there I found a maid waiting for me.

"You will take this." she thrust a black robe at me. "And when you put it on, you will stand behind the spear on the right. When His Majesty calls on you, you will say 'Yes, Sire?' and answer the questions or statement he tells you. Got that?" She said this all very fast in her high-pitched voice.

          "Yes. I got it."

"Good." As she left and shut the door behind her, I took off the old robe I had and put on the new. It shadowed half of my face. This is good, in case the man in red comes.

I walked back to the throne room and took my place. The king came from a room to the right. That must be the King's chamber...

I would explore that later.

A few days later, the king sat talking to a man I now knew as Minister Noish. As I watched the throne room entrance, I had a complete shock. Lavitz walked up the stairs followed by the man in red to his right and the girl to his left. They bowed before the king and he stood surprised also.

"Yes, yes, you may rise." They all got up. "Lavitz! I thought you were taken on the battlefield?!"

"No, Your Highness... I was captured and taken to Helena."

          "Helena?! You were kept there?!"

"Yes but thanks to these people I managed to escape. This is Dart and Shana."

Dart and Shana, I thought. Now I at least have their identity.

I noticed Shana looked out of the corner of her eyes at me. I felt nervous, so I backed up slowly, I didn't know if she recognized me or not.

The king had his full attention on each other, so did Minister Noish and Dart's friends. I had assumed Dart as the leader. With them not looking I slipped out the door to the right and to my surprise ended up outside on a walk to the north tower. I walked down the narrow path and into a door on the side of the tower. Indeed this was the king’s quarters. I searched everywhere, carefully putting things back where they belonged. Nothing.

I walked back and took my place behind the chair and stared at Dart for a while. There was something about him that I did like, and things I didn't. They were just feelings about him that brought a sense of respect.

Dart was rather tall and boyishly handsome. He had dirty-blond spiked hair and blue eyes. He wore red torso armor with a shield and arm protectors on his right shoulder and arm to his fingers. His left arm was bare, the armor ending at his shoulder, besides a brown glove reaching nearly to his elbow. He carried a sword at his side.

Shana was a medium height brunette with long hair and brown eyes. She wore white shorts and shirt with blue trim and leather armor on her shoulders and waist. She wore fingerless gloves and brown leather boots. She had a quiver of arrows and a bow strapped to her back.

Lavitz wore green with silver chest, leg, shoulder, and arm armor. He had close cropped blond hair and hazel eyes. He had a spear, also strapped to his back.

They were talking, and what Minister Noish said brought me back to reality. He talked about the Dragon Campaign.

"Long ago, Winglys ruled the skies and enslaved humans and other animals, just to gain power over them. Eventually humans fought back and they enlisted the help of the Dragons. Seven Dragoons fought the Wingly's and won. The age of humans thus began."

The others stood fascinated as he kept talking and I stood thinking about that time. I was born after the Dragon Campaign, around 9,900 years after. Only around 100 years ago. Humans still hated Winglys and a few people still knew they existed.

I thought back to the time when I was around 10 years old.

One night while my family was asleep, a mob came and set the house afire. My mother was desperate and flung herself out the window. My father had already burned and was lying on the floor, dead. I managed to make it outside just as the roof collapsed. My mother lay dead from the fall. I kissed her once more and fled into the woods for fear the mob was still there. I had been on my own since then.

I blinked back and Shana and Dart went to the balcony room to the right. Lavitz stood talking to the king with other soldiers about going to Hoax to fight a dragon... Dragon?!! Those fools were attacking again with that thing?!! What was their strategy? Or did they just want the taste of war?

I was sharply called to their attention by two words. Moon Gem... The stone I was looking for! Where? Safely sealed inside the King. Of course!!!

With them talking. I silently slipped away. I no longer needed to be here. The king would assume I was a spy and maybe choose another advisor more carefully.

I ran out of town and found the stallion I had turned loose on a picket line and saddled it up again. I then rode back to Hellena.

*********************************************************

Having outlined my plan to the Helena commanders, I rode to Lohan feeling I needed some time off. Lohan was a commercial town, and I, needing someplace to go, felt that that would be safest to travel to because of all the tourists it gets anyway. I arrived around sunset and checked into a hotel.

I entered the room assigned to me and took off the robe. Underneath I wore a black tunic like shirt with no sleeves and black pants and leather boots and gloves. The shirt had silver trim in contrasted designs.

I had only four days to be here, so I unpacked and walked around looking at various items. A red poster caught my eye.

Hero Match. For various warriors who wish to claim the title Best in Serdio! I suppose I could try that.

I spun as shouts burst out at the town entrance. Dart came carrying Shana, who looked limp and pale in his arms. Behind them came Lavitz and a woman I had never seen. She must be with them because she followed Lavitz through the gate.

She had waist long black hair with deep brown eyes. Her armor looked like a dress but she had a short skirt that was attached to the top armor without a break to her fingertips. It was purple cloth armor that had golden trim in Amazon designs. One of her purple boots came to her ankle and the right one came just up to where it would show two inches of her leg between it and her skirt. On her head were two headpieces I recognized as a symbol of a demon from the Dragon Campaign pictures I had seen. At her side was a purple sheathed rapier.

Lavitz looked back as she caught her breath. "C'mon Rose!"

I ducked under the stairs just in time to be avoided. They must have fought the Dragon and succeeded, but Shana must've gotten sick.

They also picked up the new girl, Rose, somewhere also. They were strong enough to fight the dragon, but somehow they must've gotten help.

I returned to my room at the inn and lied down for a while and slowly fell asleep.

*********************************************************

My fourth day was the Hero Match, which I had already registered for. I was walking around the arena when I suddenly spotted Dart's group heading my way. I dodged behind a booth and watched as Dart signed up for the match and turned to his friends, who looked like they didn't want to join.  They walked to a game and took turns trying it, while I slipped past and into the room where the contestants were to wait. I walked over to the opposite side of the room and leaned against the wall.

One warrior, a Sandora Knight who must have deserted, tried to pick a fight with an older man. The man was around 50 at least, wearing a light color purple fighter suit, trimmed with white, which was a sleeveless tunic and pants with covered boots. He had black hair and dark eyes, and looked pretty strong for someone so old.

"You old man!!! Get out of my way you pathetic loser!"

"Yaaa!!!" The 'old man' smacked the soldier off his feet into unconsciousness. "That'll teach him to respect his elders!"

"Haschel!!" Dart came walking down the steps. I pretended not to notice. "I should have known!! I haven't seen you for a long time!"

"Dart?! My... I haven't seen you for two years, and you were this much shorter too!"

"Excuse me..." Ginger the lady at the table came in, "The match is about to start. You two, follow me please."

I walked into the arena, being greeted by hundreds of people. A man named Archis walked to the opposite end of the arena. He had two daggers, one in each hand. He stood poised, ready to attack. I knew he would dash at me the second Ginger said go.

A bell rang out and my opponent dashed at me just as I suspected. I ran to meet him headlong and dove under his arms, him taken completely off in surprise. I slammed my sword, flat side, onto his back, knocking him out. I stood and claimed my victory, waving once and going back into the room, where Dart and another man waited to go into the arena.

As I took my position I glanced casually at Dart, his face was eager and excited. His opponent read his face and smiled. I knew he thought Dart was over confident. I wasn't too sure.

They stepped out on the field and I stood near the door to watch. The man, Haschel, stood near the other door, watched also. As I looked out the bell rang and Dart rushed his opponent, slamming his hilt into the man's gigantic stomach and spun slashing lightly once up diagonally, and down. He called out his attack as were the rules.

"Volcano!" He yelled in his resonate voice.

He dived under the huge man's legs right at his gigantic axe came swinging down right where he would have been.

"Hey! That's Foul Play!!" He yelled after backing up a few yards.

"So, winning is winning!!!" The gigantic man threw a poison dart at Dart. It hit and Dart kneeled down with fatigue. He drank a quick potion and made a mad dash at the man slashing through the armor and hitting it with the flat of the blade as I had. The man came crashing down and a few minutes was being escorted off of the field as Dart came staggering in.

Haschel helped Dart to a chair and I came over.

"Nice work you did out there."

          He looked up suppressed. "Thanks."

"Here." I gave him a poison antidote. "It will work in a few minutes."

"Thank you again." He gratefully took it and drank.  He said nothing more and I didn't either. I just walked back to the door where Ginger was reading lists. I watched Dart out of the corner of my eye. He was looking better already. I had no idea why I helped him. I had a feeling he had some part to play in my plan later on. After all, he did follow me everywhere it seemed.

The next battles were the same. I had no trouble in defeating them. I was up against Haschel in the semi-finals. He was a bit harder but I took him down in the second attack.

Dart seemed to be doing well too. He had made it into the finals, just as I had. I was up against him next.

There was a short recess, where I went to see where his friends were at in the stands. They were in the right-top box. I would keep an eye on them when they left.

I came walking down the steps and I heard Haschel speaking to Dart.

"That Lloyd is an excellent swordsman. I didn't even stand a chance!" I came into sight. "Speak of the devil..."

"Haschel tells me you are good. I look forward to fighting with you." Dart said as I walked past.

          I stopped. "You also."

Ginger came walking into the room. "Alright you two!! Hop on out there."

I walked out into the arena and took a stance. Dart took his place opposite me. The bell rang and we began. He rushed at me and I stepped aside.

          "Too slow!"

Hi spun and almost hit me with his blade twice, slashing down with his Volcano attack. I dodged and taunted him once more.

          "Almost!!"

          "You are fast!!" He panted.

          "Thanks!"

I poised my sword upward and spun it around to face the three o'clock position, spinning counter-clockwise. I dashed holding the sword behind me in one hand. I could hear the woman Rose speak.

          "What is he doing?!"

          "I don't know..." I heard Shana's bell-like tone ring out.

I spun fast hitting Dart multiple times, lifting him off the ground. I finished after five hits by hitting him in the chest with the flat part of my blade, slamming him to the ground.

          "Harp's Fire Breath!!" I breathed.

He stood slowly and put his sword into its sheath. He reached out his hand. "Good fight."

I took his hand and shook stiffly once. "Sure."

Ginger took us by the arms, which was a little embarrassing, and put us in our places. I stood in the middle with Dart to the right and Haschel to the left. Ginger shouted out winners, giving us our prizes.

"In Third Place!! Haschel, with his Iron Fist!!" She gave him a sack with 50g in it to him. "Next in Second... Dart, the Young Flame!!!!" She gave him a sack with 100g in it to him. "And in First," she had to pause a moment with the applause, "Lloyd! The Platinum Shadow!!!" She gave me a sack with 500g in it to me. I walked off as the people applauded.

I walked to the hotel, picked up my pre-packed belongings and checked out of the hotel. I no longer needed the horse so I took it and left it with my sack of money that I had won beside a poor looking house with two children and a sick mother inside, with some hay and the saddle and bridle. I then shouldered my pack and walked out of the city.

Down the road a mile, a dark figure approached and I skirted around the road and watched it approach, hidden in the trees. As it got closer, I recognized it to be a soldier from Bale. I watched as he staggered by, heavy with arrow and sword wounds, limping and using a spear shaft covered in blood as a staff. He made way toward Lohan, which wasn't far.

I knew he was seeking help and wondered if I should kill him now to be over with him... but I just watched as he went by, staggering on leaving a trail of thick blood along the ground. He must be a surviving soldier from the elite force I had sent. Hnnn.... Maybe I will meet Dart again in the future.....

*********************************************************

I made it to Hellena late in the morning, after stopping in Kazas to get supplies. I was worried that fool of a soldier had ruined my prize.

Stealthily I walked to the tower to the right of the prison and slipped inside the secret door. I set my pack down by the door and took the hooded robe I had and put it on. Then carefully I set up the long flight of stairs.

As I neared the top I heard the clash of swords and one clear attack callout.

          "Volcano!!!!"

          "Whip Smack!!!!"

          "Heya!!! Spinning Cane!!!"

"Dart and his friends made it here just in time." I spoke aloud.

I opened the trap door and saw the King, Albert, tied and kneeling on the floor, watching his rescuers. They also had their backs to me, and I stepped up behind Albert quickly and grabbed his shoulder. He spun his head quickly and gasped. His eyes widened and he winced as I pulled him about face, his back straight, just as Frugal crashed to the floor, dead.

"Almachin ta ratince Moon laten carcov!" I whispered and shoved my hand in his back as a blue wave of light surrounded it. Albert cried out in pain. Lavitz spun around and yelled.

          "King Albert!!!!"

He ran forward just as I pulled the Moon Gem from Albert's back. Albert fell forward in a faint.

I looked up and pulled out the sword, the Dragon Buster from its sheath and called it to command. It burst forward in a bout of flame and I could see Rose staring at the hilt intently for it was the only part showing under the cloak.

          "YAAAA!!!"

Lavitz leaped into the air and transformed into the Jade dragoon. I opened my eyes wide. He must of gotten it from Greham, the one I gave it to... but... yes. He defeated the Dragon!!

He flew at me with tremendous force and I threw the sword from under my cloak. He did not notice.

          "That sword?!" Rose gasped.

"Lavitz!!! Wait!!!" Haschel yelled from the background. I hadn't seen him.

Lavitz flew and a few seconds before the hit to me came, I slammed the Dragon Buster deep into his stomach, right through the magnificent armor and deep into the flesh. Lavitz looked at me with wide eyes as the Dragon Buster connected us for a second and part of his memories flooded to me as mine did him. A single drop of blood spilled onto my sword as I retracted it and clutched the hilt.

"LAVITZ!!!!!" Dart yelled and ran forward.

Lavitz slowly fell to the ground and the wind from the flight suddenly caught up and blew my hood off.  Dart stopped as he recognized me suddenly and his eyes filled with hate.

          "Lloyd...?"

Clutching the Moon Gem and the Dragon Buster I ran and jumped down the tower to another small tower, then through a door to the steps. I threw the cloak off and into a corner then picked up my pack. I carefully inserted the Moon Gem into the pack and walked out the door, shouldering it.

Just as I reached the ridge of the woods I heard a terrible cry, filled with pain.

          "LLLLAAAAVVVVIIIITTTTZZZZZ!!!!!!"

Dart. Suddenly I was filled with remorse as I turned and looked up as a bright green light sailed over the sea and disappeared from sight. I turned and sighed quietly.

"This place I will never return to." I vowed. "Never to feel this pain."

I walked off into the woods, slowly, and turned toward Kazas for one last stay.

*********************************************************

I arrived in Kazas in the evening and the shadows stood, forbidding. The castle was a deep black, it's city the same color only more brownish.

As I made my way, the guards caught sight of a woman with her child walking quickly down the street.

"Hey Pretty..." one of them said, "looking for a place to stay?"

I was disgusted. "Back off and leave the lady alone."

"And who are you to intervene?!" the second one said.

"A man of more importance than you to talk to."

          "Get him!!"

I drew the Dragon Buster and called it to command. Its roaring flame-like blade stopped the soldiers within inches. "Maybe you will leave the lady alone after this, or I will come for you."

The men looked frightened and backed off. "N- no trouble with the Emperor- o- okay Silver Haired one?"

"Leave her and other women alone or you will regret it."

          "Y- Yes, SIR!"

The woman looked gratefully at me and passed. I then retracted the sword and put it back into the sheath.

I passed on and showed my pass to the guards to allow me inside the castle. My steps down the hall resounded in a vibrating echo. I walked past the gate and into an elevator after putting the oil required inside the well. I traveled up and walked to the statue of the lady and entered the elevator, using the stones I had as a pass. After reaching the top I scattered the stones throughout the castle with my magic.

As I entered the doors, a Gianto came through the door.

He was huge, maybe 10 feet high and very muscular. He wore his head in a Mohawk and had blood red tattooed markings on his face. He wore golden armor, which was very thick.

"Password." He growled in a deep voice.

"I need no password. I have my orders as you do to see Doel immidiately."

"You may pass, but only because Doel needs to see you now."

I obliged and walked through the double doors and bowed lightly before Emperor Doel.

Doel was a man of medium eighth, with black hair and dark eyes. He wore a medium-color purple color of armor and had two swords sheathed at his sides. His eyes were shifty and he was continually fidgeting.

"Did you bring me the prize?"

"I got what I need. Here." I tossed him a purple sphere of light that flew to his hand immediately. "See it already recognizes you. The Violet Dragoon Spirit."

          "You are leaving now?"

"Yes. I am traveling to Tiberoa. Goodbye."

          "Farewell, Silver Haired One."

I disappeared in a flash of light, temporarily blinding myself and Doel. I disappeared and for a moment, slipped into my own world.

Hope of the Dragoon.

CHAPTER 2 PLATINUM SHADOW.

When the white flash subdued I was in Tiberoa, located in Fletz, the capital. Everything was frozen in time, and I took a walk around and took some supplies from the store, leaving the money I owed on the counter.

I traveled around looking for the castle. Finding it I walked up to the gates and surveyed it from the inside, which took me a couple of hours to memorize the interior.

After looking through the castle I left and walked back to the place I had appeared and started to walk out of town. In the distance I could see a blur coming toward the town at a run. Dart?! Of course they wouldn't be stopped in time, they are Dragoons!

I disappeared in a flash, re-setting time back into order and appearing a few miles out of town. I looked back once more, grateful I had barely made it out in time as I watched Dart's group head into town.

Shouldering the pack once more, I set off toward a group of rocks called the Barrens.

It was approaching night when I reached the rocks. Looking around I spotted a cave and headed in, setting down the pack and starting a fire.

I leaned against the back wall and slipping to a sitting position, I started to think about where to go now. I needed the Moon Dagger, but I had no idea where it was, or any information where it was. The piece was just a dagger with a specific design and had a bluish gem in the center of the hilt.

I took out the Moon Gem and looked at it. It was a bluish stone, the size of an orange, which radiated a blue light of unknown brilliance.

All that work, killing, for this... I thought. Maybe I should get my priorities straight...

Looking outside I saw a shadowed figure approaching the fire and darting between rocks. I put the Gem away and took the Dragon Buster from the sheath, walking outside.

"Who's there?" I called in a calm voice.

"Heya!!" Something hard hit me in the back of the head and I twisted as I fell, to lie on my back. The Dragon Buster lay five feet from my right hand and a blade attached to an arm put itself at my throat.

I swore aloud at myself for being caught off guard.

"Hu. Ya got somthin' to say?" A woman's heavily accented voice spoke.

She put her face to mine. She had amber eyes and silver hair like mine down to her shoulders. She wore a red bandanna around her forehead.

"Hu. Ya don't look like a Human. Get up." She withdrew her blade slightly and moved it with my throat as I sat up.

I could see her more clearly now. She wore a black revealing one piece suit, with black boots. She wore gloves with two curve blades attached to them, with a firing device that would allow it to go great distances with a flick of her wrist.

"Alright, who are ya and why are ya in my territory?"

"My name is Lloyd; I am here on my own business."

"Fine then. Lenus. Lovely to meet you." Lenus said, wiggling her wrist, causing the blade to barely tickle my throat.

"You are a Wingly?" I asked.

"Yup. Miss Lenus is a Wingly, wonder boy."

I ignored the remark. "You looking for a job?"

"And what would that be handsome?"

"To help me get a priceless item with the reward of your choice, but not the item for a reward itself."

She pulled away the blade and leaned close to my face. "I'm listnin'."

*********************************************************

Lenus had gone off, after outlining my plan. She was to take the place of the Princess Emile somehow, with the help of the Gerich Gang she somehow knew, to find out where the Moon Dagger was.

I headed for Donau, and rounded the corner to see the beautiful city ahead, along with a creature I didn't know the name of. It was half lion, half some kind of human type creature.

It shot an arrow with amazing speed and struck me in the arm before I could defend myself. After chasing it off and pulling the arrow out, I realized I had better make it to Donau fast, I was poisoned and had no Body Purifiers.

I made it to Donau within ten minutes and looked for the clinic.  There were many people around, all wearing brown cloaks and carrying daggers at their sides. I realized they must be the Gerich Gang bandits. There were few other people out.

I found the clinic up some stairs to the right. I entered and paid for the treatment and took it. A white light descended and surrounded me, removing the poison. Accepting a bandage from the doctor, I headed for the door, noting there was a commotion outside. I quickly tied the bandage around my upper arm and walked out.

A woman with grey-blue hair stood, surrounded by three bandits. She wore a light blue dress and had grey eyes. She put her hands over her head and screamed.

"Someone Help!!!! Please!!!" she cried as she looked up. "You sir!! Please help!!!"

I walked and paused at the woman's request and turned toward the bandits. They turned.

"You'd better stay out of this if ya don't want any trouble."

I drew my sword and they looked at each other and surrounded me.

          "Shall I continue?" I drawled.

One of them jumped at me and I used a burst of magic to knock him back into the wall without having to move.

"How did you do that you pric!?" They backed away slowly.

"Shall I continue?" I said again.

The looked at each other once more and took off.  I started making my way toward the steps.

"Oh, please sir!! Wait!!" the woman came up to me and I paused. "Thank you. My name is Wink. I'm a Sacred Sister of Mille Seausu."

"No Prob." I started to walk off again but Wink stopped me.

"At least can I know the name of my rescuer?"

"It's Lloyd." I walked down the steps and headed toward the wharf.

I looked around and noticed I was still carrying my sword. I put it back into the sheath and looked around. There was no one around so I spread my light wings and headed for the islands off the coast where I was to meet Lenus in a few months, to take a rest for awhile.

Sylvia looked around the room the human men had put her in. It was grey, made out of steel, with nothing in it but a small cot in the corner. It had no door to be opened from the inside. The men untied her wrists and shoved her in, then slammed and locked the door.

Sylvia was around 5'6", and had silver-platinum hair and amber eyes. She had tan skin and was around 16 years old.

She rubbed her wrists and crossed the room to sit on the cot, going over the events that had happened to get her here. She collapsed on the bed, all of her energy gone. As she lay there, she slowly went over the recollections of what had happened.

"RUN!!! Sylvia, Run I say!!" I sped off into the forest, men pursuing me. I darted into a clearing and flashed back into the bushes, running from the fire and men.

          "There she goes!"

          "Get it!"

I fell as an arrow pierced my arm and I fell down into a gutter out of sight.

"Aaa, leave her. She's as good as dead anyway."

When I came to I walked back up the gutter, pulling the arrow painfully out of my arm.  I tore a part of my shirt-sleeve and tied up the wound. As I came over the crest of the hill, I opened my eyes wide in terror, and looked away, ready to throw up.

Bodies were strewn everywhere, up the side of the hill, the city still smoking from the fire that crushed it to the ground. There was no sound, no busy people, not even a cry of pain, except for the empty howl of the wind.

I heard a crunch of a stick behind me and I spun, to be knocked upside the head, crashing to the ground, hitting my head on a rock.

When I came to, I was being carried through a dirty ragged hall, then they set me down so I could walk, with my hands tied in front of me.  They opened the cell door and shoved me in.

I finally realized what had happened. Our Wingly city had been attacked by a mob, and I was now a prisoner. I couldn't use magic yet, I would have to wait. I laid my head on the small pillow and fell asleep.

*********************************************************

Lloyd looked up as Lenus came into the cavern on Prison Island, nearly six months later.

"I have the Moon Dagger you wanted." Lenus said as she walked over. "I didn’t kill those humans as you said, though. But why did you start to say such a thing?"

"The blood-smeared road might be the only way to the world we desire. Death gives birth to tears and tears give birth to anger. When anger turns itself into rancor, it opens to war.

It's silly that I have to repeat it and since one is enough."

"Well I won't stop you if you do so Lloyd." She turned away for a moment and then looked back at me stepping a foot closer. "Anyway! He's something called Dart. Aren't they the ones coming after you Lloyd?"

"It's all in my plan." I turned toward her, surprised she had moved even closer.

"Hmm. 'Plan' huh?" She stepped closer and threw herself around me. "Now let me tell you my plan." She murmured, rubbing my arm with her neck. "My plan is to get a hot prize from you!!"

I stood silently, but shocked. Suddenly there was movement from behind the rocks and Lenus let go, looking over.

"Tut! You're disturbing my moment here!! You're gonna pay for this!!"

Dart stepped from behind a boulder followed by Rose and King Albert, also another silver haired girl. A wingly?! I thought.

"Why... Why is Lloyd here?!" Dart looked me over, drawing his sword. "Is this all a part of your plot?"

"My will is with Emperor Diaz. Namely everything was planned by the God." I said mentioning my boss for the first time.

"You’re still talking about that crap?!" Rose stepped forward, her eyes flashing.

Albert drew his lance. "You killed Lavitz. Let us settle this score now!!"

It pained me and a grimaced slightly at the memory. As much as I hated saying it I took a cautious look and stared at Albert, then to Dart. "I have the calling to reform the world. I have no time to pay attention to little things like Lavitz."

Dart raised his sword, his face filled with anger. "Lloyd!!" He started toward me.

"I cannot stand it anymore." Lenus shouted stamping her foot. Dart stopped.

I took a serious gamble. "I am the one who torched your home to the ground. I am the one who deprived your friend of his life and I hold the Moon Gem and Moon Dagger in my hands." I paused and jumped upon a rock and stood. "You abhor me, don't you?" I said tauntingly. Dart had his face now mixed with sorrow, pain and unbreakable hate toward me. I caused another white flash in the cavern that blinded Dart's group.

"I am heading to Mille Seasau. Pursue me if you can survive."

I disappeared, leaving them there, with Lenus and the Dragon, knowing Lenus wouldn't survive. I was attracted to her for a while, and I felt horrible, but what I had to do was done. Goodbye forever, I said to her silently.

Hope of the Dragoon Part 3.

Fate and Soul.

        ~

I appeared in Mille Seasau upon a mountain called Mount. Mortal Dragon. I went then to the task I had been set upon. To revive and kill the dragon inside. Merely walking to the top of the mountain would awaken it. Then I would wait for its return. I walked slowly to the top.

As I neared it, I felt a great rumble in the earth and the mountain split open at the top and the six-winged King of Dragons burst out, ripping away at its chains and flying off to the Dennigrad toward the West. I sat on a boulder at the very top and awaited its return. I shivered at the thought but gritted my teeth and waited, Dragon Buster ready.

*********************************************************

Fully awake now Sylvia sat up on the bed and looked at the wall, just staring. She felt a great shiver run down her spine and looked out the steel-barred window, over toward Mille Seasau as thousands of other Winglys did the same.

I wonder what that was about... I thought.

She rubbed her arms and stood up warming her magic. As soon as a human walked into that door to feed her, she would blast him and find her weapons in the armory. She knew where it was, she had used her magic to find it around 4 months back.

She stood waiting in front of the door, her arms poised as the click of the handle sounded and the door swung open. The man looked up in terror as I fired a single burst of energy toward him, killing him and sending him sprawling to the ground.

She darted out the door and ran toward the armory. Chills ran down her spine as the alarm went off and she heard the scuffle of feet.

She ran to the armory and locked the door behind her. She quickly selected her sword, a Black-Steeled double Rapier. It had a hand cover that had black and silver trimmed plated steel covering the hilt. The blade was 4 feet long, and altogether weighed 150 pounds.

She hurried to the door and stopped as she heard knocking and shouting outside the door.

"GET THOSE KEYS!!!" a male's voice sounded.

She looked up and fired a massive fire energy ball at the ceiling which blasted a hole big enough for her to fly through. She opened her light wings and flew out, then looking around quickly, headed towards Gloriano.

*********************************************************

The dragon came back 2 hours later. It was angry, ferocious then when it saw me and dove, landing and making me jump around five feet in the air.

The beast opened his mouth and roared. Then he struck. I flew with all my skill, darting in and out slashing deep with the Dragon Buster.  I spun, using him for a ground at the same time, executing attacks faster than I had done before.

After about an hour of fighting, I started to wear out. I then realized this was a life or death situation. It still hadn’t gotten a lick into me yet, and a dodged and it turned, whipping me across the leg, making a deep gash across the leg. I fell, and my wings gave out underneath me and I fell to one knee.

          "Lloyd?!" Dart's voice called out.

I was surprised but stood, leaning on my sword. "Ahh. This is sooner than I expected. Even with the Dragon Buster, he still gave me a good fight."

"So you let him loose but you couldn't control him, could you?!" A woman's voice rang out. It was the 1st Sacred Sister of Mille Seasau, Miranda.

"Ahh, the First Sacred Sister. What a convenient replacement of that girl." I taunted standing as the dragon sent fireballs exploding around me. I then stood and assumed a fighting stance.

          "Shut up!!" Dart yelled.

"Well no need for you to intervene, he's almost dead." I leapt up to a boulder as Dart yelled and rushed into battle to fight the Dragon. They darted in and out like missiles, transforming into the fabled Dragoons.

I saw that silver haired girl, Meru, transform into the Blue Sea Dragoon. Lenus was dead then.

Rose, the more experienced, flew in and out making significant slashes here and there, until 10 minutes later, Albert was shot down, the Dragon Staff they had brought with them, taking place and breaking into half, into an irreversible spell, until maybe the magic wore out in a half hour, making the Dragoons vulnerable. Miranda helped him up and healed him then they both re-joined the fight.

Another ten minutes later, the Dragon fell. I darted down and cut open the eye of the dragon and a grey stone, surrounded in light flew to me and stopped glowing.

Dart landed and the others followed, de-transforming.

          "Is that.....?" Dart stammered.

"Yes, this is the Dragoon Spirit of the Divine Dragon." I stared at it a moment and put it into my side pack. Dart raised his sword and the others took out their weapons, blocking the path.

"We're going to settle this score now Lloyd."

"I don't think so." I opened my wings of light and flew over them, then made a dash down the mountain.

"Come on!!" Dart sheathed his weapon and ran; the others did the same and took after me. "Which way did he go?!"

"I don't know!! How were we supposed to know he was a Wingly?!"

I shot a beam of energy back at them and Dart and Rose slipped over the side of the cliff, landing hard on an overhang maybe 10 feet down. "Shoot!!" I yelled and ran down the mountain.

I slowed to a walk after making it out of the pass. I looked down the path and looked to see another Wingly holding an energy beam aiming at Wink, the Sacred Sister I had saved a half year before.

She cried out and held her arms over her face as he let it go. I disappeared quickly and re-appeared quickly in front of her, dissipating the energy ball.

"Who are you to interfere?!" The other Wingly hissed.

"Who are you to try to kill a Sacred Sister of Mille Seasau?!"

He fired another energy ball at me and it disappeared again. "HUH?!" He yelled.

I threw a massive energy ball at him and he disappeared.

"Oh thank you again Mr. Lloyd!" Wink clung to my arm. "This is the second time you saved me."

"No proble-..." I was jerked around and pulled along the road toward Denningrad.

"You must come with me and get an award for this." She walked forward and I dutifully followed, a plan forming in my mind.

*********************************************************

I walked up the stairs to the castle throne room. Queen Theresa sat there as Wink made introductions.

"This is Lloyd, the man who had saved me from those horrid Bandits, and now a Wingly roaming around the country."

The fourth Second Sacred Sister came in and Wink introduced me again. Suddenly she cried out.

"This man may have done good deeds, but his intentions are not good at all!!"

Wink and Queen Theresa stepped back and the guards came over and stood before me.

I disappeared and stood next to Theresa. "I was hoping not to be discovered by now, but still... You're Majesty. Come with me please." I disappeared, taking her with me, grabbing her arm gently and in flashing light, re-appearing in the towers in the west of Mille Seasau.

"Show me where the Moon Mirror is. Now..." I trailed off.

I had plated myself with new armor. Silver, from neck to feet, covering me totally except for the leather gloves and leather boots underneath the silver coverlets on my ankles showing, I still had pants on underneath.

          "I... I don't know..."

"Do it. I know you know how."

"Okay..." She opened the seal on the wall and gave the Moon Mirror to me.

"Lloyd. Is this something else new?" I spun to see Dart backed by the rest of his group. Dart, Albert, Kongol, Haschel, Rose,

Miranda, and the Wingly girl I know knew as Meru. They all had their weapons drawn.

"Sure." I said calmly. Queen Theresa took the opportunity to escape and she disappeared in a flash of magic. I hardly noticed.

Dart rushed in and slashed down at me with complicated maneuvers. I tried to dodge them, but some were to fast and I had armor hit steel painfully. I slashed back and Rose led the others outside. It was just a fight between Dart and me.

He was winning. I could feel it. The new armor was strong, but no match for him. He cut me down the final time and I threw my sword away and stood before him.

"Kill me now, to avenge all you have had through, Lavitz..."

Dart moved in for the final slash when Wink appeared out of nowhere, running and standing in front, her back towards the blade.

Before I could react, Dart pulled back quickly but it was too late. The slash tore a gash diagonally on her right shoulder around 1 inch deep.

"Why... Why did you save me?" I asked sorrowfully and curious at the same time.

"Because you did the same before me. I know you have some good in there... you did save me." Dart helped her, wincing back to the portal where she blew me a kiss and disappeared.

"Kill me." I said to Dart.

He moved forward and threw his sword away. "Through the death of Lavitz, I learned that revenge isn't everything." He walked out of the room and I heard him say something to Rose and they sat down on the rocks outside.

I stopped and paused. I decided there was truth in Darts words and I picked up his sword, and mine, sheathing it and carrying the other out to Dart and handed it back to him as the others gave me cold glares.

          "What?" Dart snapped.

"I've decided I have a truce. I will show you to Emperor Diaz, take you to him."

Dart thought. "Very well." He nodded sharply to Rose and she took a position behind be, holding the hilt of her sword in her hand.

I walked beside Dart, watching my feet and the floor around them as I led them out the gate and towards Gloriano.

*********************************************************

Sylvia stopped outside the door in a hall, in the ancient fallen city. She heard a voice inside talking to itself. It was a man.

"Soon I will have all... soon the god will be reborn and destroy this world!!!" He laughed cruelly and she slipped on a rock as she stepped closer. The laughing stopped and I heard footsteps coming to the door.

She tried to get away but slipped again and cried out in pain when her foot slipped into a crevice in the floor and was caught, twisting with a sickening crunch.

A man around in is forties opened the door and looked at me with cold blue eyes. He had blond hair, and wore red armor, covering from his neck to his burnished feet. He crossed over and I opened my wings and tried to pull free in terror. This was a Human!!! He would kill me I knew it!!

He paused when he saw the wings and continued slowly. "It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you." he spoke in a soothing voice and I retracted my wings, crumpling to the ground, when my other foot shook itself out from under me.

I trembled in fear as he reached slowly for his knife and I scooted back. He took it out and hacked away at the stone around my foot. It came loose and I scrambled to my feet, succeeding to fall again. He helped me to my feet and carried me back into the room he came from. He set me down on a stone throne, padded in velvet.

A bright light flashed over my foot and it felt a lot better. He smiled and looked at me closely.

"You can go now wingly child." He said in his soothing resonate voice. "Go home now okay?"

I nodded and jumped, opening my wings again and flying off and below the building, under the room, around 20 yards away from where he was standing over me, some 1500 feet in the air on a platform. There I pitched my tent I had found on the outskirts of the city and went to sleep.

*********************************************************

Lloyd looked around as they traveled in silence. They were now in Gloriano, approaching the stone wall-gates of Vellweb. Then suddenly one of Vellweb's infamous blizzards seized us.

"This way!!" I heard Dart shout at us. "A cave!!"

We followed him into a small cave inside a rock face, towards the end of the Vellweb Canyon. Inside it was warmer, with a few logs and a broken fire-pit. This must have been a Wingly Bandit cave... I thought, noting the way the fire-pit was built.

Dart sat down on a log and I leaned against the wall back behind everyone as they sat down too.

"Now suppose you tell your story." Dart said coldly. Everyone turned to look.

I sighed. "For at least twenty years I was lying in secret, trying to find where the Moon Objects were. For twenty years I formed a plan and eased it into place. Now I have all of them and now I can reform the world.

'Emperor Diaz and I met, some twenty-one years ago and shared the same ideas and feelings about the world. He then told me my objectives. One to find the Moon Objects and he would do the rest. Also to take and capture the girl, Shana. I know not why.

'Agreeing to this plan I obtained three Dragoon Spirits. One, the Jade Dragoon Spirit; two, the Violet Dragoon Spirit, and three, the Blue-Sea Dragoon Spirit. These I gave to Greham, Doel, and Lenus, to help me, and to possibly stop you. Unfortunately this did not turn out so well.

'These people fought you, I understand, or you would not have them.  Albert, Haschel, and Meru.

'I don't know what happened to Diaz these years, but he showed up last year and told me to meet him in the fallen city in exactly one year. That's were we are heading now. You can ask additional questions to Diaz himself."

"You do know Diaz died in the Dragon Campaign, under the name the Imperial Gloriano." Rose spoke up. Everyone looked from her to me.

"I do know this. But he uses this name, I do not know what his name really is." The storm had stopped. "But know I will take you to him."

We headed out and turned towards the city. In the distance I could see the dark grey shape of a tower. For some reason I felt a dreading in my heart...

*********************************************************

Upon arriving in the city, I took them towards the halls, only to be surprised by a white figure, suddenly appearing in front of me.

          "Shirley?" Rose stepped forward.

I released my grip on the sword hilt and stepped back.

          "What are you doing here?"

"I came to ask you a question." Shirley said. Her voice sounded far away.

          "What is that?"

"The lost spirits of the Dragoons are here." Rose looked surprised. "I want you to help them and take them back. I've been trying, but they sort of listen and then disappear to another tower. Hurry and answer, I have but little time left!"

Rose looked around, and everyone nodded. She didn't look at me. "Yes we will." She said, turning back.

          "Good." Shirley smiled and disappeared.

Dart looked back at me. "Continue."

"This way." I led them down the hall and turned to the door he must be in. Getting there, I stumbled into a small hole in the floor. Strange.. I thought. It looks like it's been cut...

Opening the door, I led them in and to the platform in front of the stone throne, velvet lining the  sides.

          "We have come." I said.

A bright light materialized in front of us. A man sat in the throne. He wore a red and white armor cover-cloak. He wore a mask, also red and white.

"Ahh, Lloyd you have come." He opened his arms in welcome.

"Here are the three Moon Objects." I threw them in the air one by one and he caught them with his magic, taking them to him and taking them, putting them in a special pouch.

"Ah, thank you for your help."

"Who are you?" Meru blurted out. Just then there was a groan from the shadows in the corner.

"Shana!" Dart ran and dropped to his knees beside her, holding her as she lapsed back into unconsciousness. "What is she doing here?!" he demanded.

"I need her." was Diaz's reply.

"Who really are you?" Rose stepped up. "Emperor Diaz is dead!"

"Fine, I shall show you who I really am." He took off his mask.

Rose gave a gasp of surprise, and Dart stared. "Dad?" Dart said uncertainly.

The man had blond spiked hair and blue eyes. He very did resemble Dart closely.

"Oh.. this... this cannot be!!!" Rose exclaimed, groaning.

Dart stood a few feet away, looking strangely at Rose and the man. I stood in silence, watching quietly.

"I am Zieg." the man said. "Hello Dart, Rose." He nodded mockingly.

          "Dad...." Dart said shockingly.

The others looked on in a strange silence, even Shana had come to and was staring at Zieg.

          "Long time Rose, darling."

"I... I thought you were dead!!" Rose emphasized the last word.

"Rose, Dad?" Dart suddenly woke out of his daze. "How do you to know each other?"

"As you do not know, I am an original. A Dragoon from the dragon campaign. So is Rose in that matter. We knew each other better than lovers. Dart, son, I believe you have my Spirit."

Dart nodded, with a glazed look in his eyes. "Dad, Rose, are originals from the Dragon campaign?"

"That's how Rose knew so much." Albert said pointedly. "But how are you both alive, after 11,000 years?"

"I was in a fight with a great lord. I was trapped in a petrifaction spell. It wore off, some 30 years ago."

          "But Rose...."

"Rose has a spell choker. It has an aging spell put on it, which is how she remained 19 for the past 11,000 years. Why? She had one reason. SHE is the Black Monster."

Rose stood in silence. Everyone backed away from her. Dart looked like he might be sick. "Rose... Black Monster?! How... could you......"

"I had a reason." She snapped. "I had to kill the Moon Child every 108 years. If I didn't, the world would have been no more by now."

I knew this was true. She must have been. Dart still looked sick. Shana rose in the air, lying in mid-air in front of Zieg.

"What are you going to do Rose. Kill her to save your fate?"

"What are you doing?!" I shouted.

"I'll kill her." Rose leapt into the air and fell back at a burst of energy.

"What are you going to do...?!" I stood before Zieg and the others watched and drew their weapons. "You are not doing this according to plan!!!"

"What plan?" He laughed cruelly. "I have what I need. I do not need you anymore."

I was suddenly thrown in the air, being surrounded by fire energy. I gasped and sputtered. Dart started forward, but was blasted back by energy. I tired to breath, but it was as if I breathed fire.

"There. I am rid of you, Lloyd!!!" Zieg taunted. I was thrown down with a head-splitting crack and the rock broke away from under me and I fell, along with the rock, crashing into the rocks as I fell. I was going to die. I have failed.... I thought miserably. Then I crashed my head upon a rock and blacked out.

Hope of the Dragoon  Part four.

Hope At Last.

(Author's note: The following events in this chapter are not based on the Legend of Dragoon game at all EXCEPT, the some of the characters. These are parts I have made up to fill the gap.  Thank you for reading this!)

       ~

Sylvia looked up just in time to see rocks ungracefully falling to the ground above her head. She flew out of the way just in time. There was something also racing toward the ground, but it must have been lighter, for it was still maybe twenty yards up. She flew to investigate. It was a man!!

She flew and caught him, slowing his decent but not entirely stopping him. They both jarred to the ground. The man was unconscious. He wore silver full body armor. He had silver hair and amber eyes just like her.  He must be a Wingly too...

She carried him back to her tent and took off his armor. Underneath, fortunately, were black pants and boots, just as she thought might be. He had several severe burns on his arms, and chest. But fortunately on his face there were some too, but not as bad.

She took out some ointment and rubbed it on, feeling a bit uncomfortable, especially while rubbing the stuff on his chest. After all, this was a grown man...

She quickly finished and wrapped the burns with the gauze she took out. She then carefully put the ointment around the burns on his face and laid his head back on her rolled up sleeping-bag. She then set to the task of his armor, piled in a heap on the tent floor.

She set had just put the armor up when she heard a groan from the other side of the room. The man tried to sit up, but collapsed back in pain. Sylvia quickly crossed the room and kneeled next to him. He opened his eyes in surprise.

"Who are you?" He asked. His voice was smooth and rich.

"I am Sylvia Vaden. Here... let me help you up." She helped him sit up against the bag.

"I'm Lloyd." He opened his eyes wider. "But I thought there was no more Winglys here..."

"Oh, you are one too?" He nodded. "Good. Well, I'm just a passer by. I'll be back okay? I'm gonna go find us something to eat."

Lloyd nodded again and groaned, then rubbed his sides, I think noting that he no longer had his armor on. I stood and then walked outside, looking back for a minute, then heading off toward the heart of the city.

*********************************************************

When Lloyd woke up, he stared at the grey tent covering. Funny, the sky isn't grey... This must be Heaven.

He groaned loudly and tried to sit up, overrun with pain from his chest and legs. As he fell back onto the he heard the scuffle of feet and suddenly a girl's face appeared beside him.

"Who are you?" I asked in surprise, still a bit groggy.

"I'm Sylvia Vaden. Here... let me help you up."

She helped me sit up against the bag my head was resting on.

"I'm Lloyd." I opened my eyes wider, noting she was a Wingly. "But I thought there were no more Winglys here..." I said, still delirious.

"Oh, you are one too?" I nodded. "Good. Well, I'm just a passer by. I'll be back okay? I'm gonna go find us something to eat." She stood as I nodded again and she walked to the tent door. I rubbed my sides and suddenly noticed my armor was gone and I noticed only my pants and boots were on. At least those are on.. I thought with a sigh.

I adjusted myself as she left. Noting to myself I looked around the tent as I summarized what might have happened.

I now I must have fallen down from the platform, she also must have caught me too, or I would be dead. She must have taken my armor, yes, it was stacked against the wall. The burns were covered with gauze, so I must have been treated. I know I can't go anywhere now, not until my wounds of healed. I'll catch up with Dart later.

Somehow I felt an attachment to Dart. Like I was needed for something else.

I laid back and fell asleep...

*********************************~

          Everyone ran screaming.

"Lloyd!!" my mother's pained voice called through the darkness. "Why?!"

"How could you?" Lavitz looked up at me, my sword still in his side, bleeding.

"Why?" Dart's voice penetrated into the darkness. "Why did you?" His voice was filled with hate, so were his eyes.

A light started to cut through the darkness around me, faint at first, but steadily growing stronger.

          "Lloyd....." hate filled voices said.

"GET AWAY!" I screamed, covering my head painfully, shamefully.

"Lloyd...."A hand reached for mine. I looked up.

          "Sylvia?"

"Come Lloyd..." She was dressed in a white dress, her hair down, flowing around her. "Come on."

I fell to the ground, unable to stand up. Dart, and Lavitz stood on either side. Dart's eyes lost the hateness, Lavitz pulled the sword out and dropped it, his wound gone. "We forgive" said their voices together. Both came over and pulled me up, lifting me into the arms of Sylvia......

Lloyd gasped as he sat up quickly. He fell back in pain and thought over his dream, clutching his sides. What was that? He thought. It was confusing.

It was dark out, I figured I had slept maybe for a few hours. A blanket had been put over me, I must have slept when she came back...

          "Sylvia..." I called out weakly.

There was a small scuffle of feet and she appeared at the door. I finally got a good look at her. She was maybe 19 in Wingly years... tall, with long platinum hair and amber eyes. She wore a black sleeveless shirt with a fire design on it, and black pants with fire designs on it, purple at the bottom. She wore black fingerless gloves also, and a red headband, like Lenus. She looked awfully a lot like Lenus.

Around her knee-caps, waist, shoulders, elbows, and on her middle arm, were bronze coverings, probably armor. She had golden-bronze colored sheaths, attached to the armor on her wrists, probably concealing blades. They were the right size also, they must be.

"So you're up finally." She said.

"How long did I sleep?" I said, still being uncomfortable with her. After all, I didn't know her.

          "Two days. You hungry?"

"Two DAYS?" I groaned and put my arm over my eyes.

          "Yes, are you hungry?"

          "Yeah.." I admitted.

"Here." She brought me a bowl with some soup in it and put it beside me. She helped me sit up and gave me the bowl and a spoon.

          "Thank you."

"No prob..." She had an accent like Lenus.... strange...

"Who was your mother?" I blurted, without meaning to. I cursed myself mentally.

"Um.. I didn't know her well. Someone said she ran off with another man as soon as I was born and left me with my dad. My dad said her name was.... what was it?" She scratched her head.

"Did it start with an L?" I blurted again... wanting to know.

"Yeah... Lenus! That was it!" She took her bronze armor and opened the sheaths on the wrist covers. Underneath were curved blades attached to them.

          I got a sinking feeling.

          "How did you know?"

          "I met her once..."

"Really?" She looked up at me with interest. "What was she like?"

"Beautiful... just like you-" I caught myself in time. I cursed myself again mentally.

"Oh...?" She sharpened her blades and I ate the soup in silence.

We sat in silence. I stared up at the ceiling, pretending not to care. Suddenly Lavitz's image looked down at me and I snapped my head back down.

          "Where did you come from?"

"Hu?" I looked over at Sylvia.

"Where did you come from? All I know is you fell from the sky."

"Um. I was traveling with a group, heading toward here to meet someone. The meeting didn't turn out well, and he used magic on me. I don't know what happened to the others."

          "Oh, a group of... seven?"

          "Yes!" I looked up.

"Oh, they went past the outer gates yesterday. I saw signs of a camp also, up higher. They headed toward the Death Frontier."

"Oh. You know a place there?"

"Yes, somewhere safe... if that's what you want. We can head there tomorrow. I put on a salve that will completely heal the burns by tomorrow. There should only be a bit of pain left."

"Thank you... What town is it?"

"My home town, Fiscare. I am only over here because my Uncle was on a business trip, and he and the whole town were mobbed. He didn't survive, I did."

"I'm sorry.." I surprised myself with the words. I had never said that before.

"The town is full of boys, if you would know. I'm the only girl there, so all the guys might get jealous."

"Oh, that won't be a problem.." I said, setting the bowl down, finished.

"Well, get some more sleep. You'll need it." She put her blades away and lay down on the opposite side of the tent, and in after a while I could hear her breathing even out as she fell asleep. I lie back, and fell asleep again.

*********************************************************

I woke to the sounds of things being packed up, and I stood and stretched my legs, looking up to see Sylvia putting on her armor.

"Feels good to stand, doesn't it?" She said.

"Yeah." I walked over to the tent wall and looked at the heavy armor. She had already removed the bandages so I just put it on and re-packed my belt-bag with my items, which had spilled.

"Ready to go?" She looked at me, shouldering her pack as I finished.

          "Are you leaving the tent?"

          "Yes."

          "Let's go."

We walked out the door, she leading the way toward the ridges of the mountains, looking only like hills in the far distance.

"Sure you're up to it?" She asked.

          "Yeah."

          She opened her wings.

"We're flying?" I was surprised, used to walking.

          "It's faster..."

          "Good point."

I opened my wings and we took off, flying five times faster than we could walk. Soon we had covered a day's walk. Still no sign of Dart.

"They must have gone farther than I thought..."

"Oh? Your friends? They are at least six days ahead, even with flying."

          "Oh."

We traveled in silence for a while and the mountains got closer. Soon we were over the top and Sylvia signaled me to land in a field for lunch.

We stopped for about an hour and took off again.

          "How much further?"

"Oh, around another three hours of flying. It's near the coast."

"Never heard... wait..."          I remembered passing it once before as a boy... "I might of been there once, but never gone inside."

          "You'll like it."

We flew in silence for another two hours, and shimmering in the distance I could see a white shape flickering in and out of sight.

          "Is that it?"

"Yes, the flickering is spells preventing humans to see it. From the air you can see it a little."

We neared the city and landed right next to an old oak, next to the shimmering white city walls. She walked right up to the gate and shouted.

"Hellloooo!! Anyone up there?!" She yelled.

          "Yes! Who is it?!"

          "Sylvia Vaden!"

          "Sylvia?!"

There was a creaking and the gates went up and she walked toward the door, beckoning at me to follow. Nervously I followed and stood behind her as another Wingly ran toward us, followed by two others.

          "Sylvia!!!"

          "DAD!"

She ran into his open arms and the other men came up.

          "We thought you were dead."

"No, it's a long story though.. Oh! This is Lloyd."

She gestured toward me, letting go of her father's embrace. He looked up at me and greeted me with a warm handshake. I returned it.

          "My name is Methos, Lloyd."

"Pleasure. Your daughter was kind enough to show me a place to stay for awhile."

          "Granted."

They turned and walked down the street, Sylvia beckoning me again. I followed them through the pearl-white city. Every building was white marble, even the streets. There was even a river going along side of the road in a few spots.

They led me into a roomy house which was a pale green inside the interior, with pale green carpet and furniture. They invited me to sit down, and she told what had happened to her. I listened.

"First you know I left with business trip with Uncle, to Gloriano. Everything was okay when we got there. We found a place to stay, sold all the goods and traded.

'The last night we were to stay there, a mob of humans came and raided the town, setting fire to the buildings and killing people outright on the street. There was no hope. We were overpowered and I ran, Uncle behind me. Suddenly there was a scream and I looked back. Uncle had a human standing behind him, sword point coming through his chest. He yelled and I ran, the human starting after me.

'I ran and fell into a ditch, knocking myself out.

'When I came to, I found everyone had been killed and suddenly I was knocked out from behind.

'When I came to again, I was in a grey cell, in a human prison. For 6 months I figured out how to escape and I did.

'I then fled to the ancient city and camped there for a few days, waiting for thing to settle down.

'I was walking down the hall when I heard a person talking. I stumbled into a hole in the floor and twisted my ankle. The man I heard talking heard me cry out and he came to the door, and cut the rock around my foot, then after healing it he sent me off."

She must of met Di- Zieg. I thought.

"I went back to my tent and a few days later I saw rocks coming from an overhead position, and Lloyd was falling too. I caught him and took him back to the tent and healed him. After that we just flew here.

          'That's about it."

"Amazing. So Uncle is dead..." Methos looked sad.

          "Yes. I am sorry."

"Oh well. It is getting dark. You must sleep."

          "Yes father."

"Come this way..." Methos said. "I will show you your room Lloyd."

I followed him to the room next to the one Sylvia disappeared into. I wanted to talk to her, for some reason, but couldn't... Her father shut the door behind me.

I lie on the bed and fell asleep.

*********************************************************

I kept thinking of Lloyd as I undressed and got into the bed. I couldn’t stop thinking of him.

My cat jumped upon the bed and lie down next to me, and I stroked her as I kept thinking absentmindedly. Lloyd just popped into every picture I saw in my head.

Why couldn't I stop thinking about him?

"Oh, stop it!!" I told myself and put him out of my mind.

          I finally went to sleep.

~

When Sylvia awoke, light was streaming in her room from her window, telling her it was way past morning.

She hurried and dressed, in her plain black sleeveless shirt and flared black pants, with her silver belt, and grabbed her silver arm-blades.

She walked down the stairs and saw Lloyd talking with her father, dressed in black pants and a black muscle shirt with silver designs on it. He also wore a chain choker.

She slipped out the door and walked down the road, adjusting her arm-blades as she put them on.

She ran to her friend's house and saw him outside with Jack, Karth, and Ron. Her friend was Minsc.

"Hey guys!" she called out, waving.

"Sylvia!" They turned to look and they all ran over and gave me hugs, then walked me back to the bench they were sitting on.

          "What's up?" John said.

"Yeah!" Karth faked outrage. "What happened?!"

I told them my story and they sat fascinated, everyone, Karth especially, was shocked when I had finished.

          "Wow?!" Minsc looked shocked.

"So you really saved that man's life?" Ron said pointing.

"Who?" I turned to look. Lloyd was looking around, then he spotted me and walked over.

"Your father asked me to keep an eye on you." He said. Then he looked around at the boys. Karth had his arm draped around my shoulder, Ron with him right close to me, Minsc standing behind me, leaning on the bench, and John sitting on the ground, leaning on my leg.

"Who are these idiots?" I said, faking ignorance. "These are bozos Karth, Minsc, Ron, and John." I said, pointing them out.

"What? Bozos?!" Karth replied, pretending to be angry. "Nice to meet you, sir!"

          "This is Lloyd, freaks."

"Hi." they echoed at the same time.

"Pleasure." Lloyd said, sitting down beside Karth on the bench.

"Well, we'd love to stay and play tag, but we have training to go to." Karth said sarcastically.

"Bye then Karth!" I said brightly.

They really did have practice so they left, leaving Lloyd and me to ourselves. We sat in silence for a few minutes.

"Would you like to see the town?" I asked.

          "Sure."

I stood and started walking down the street, Lloyd walking by my side. I walked him all over town, showing him things, especially the training center, where we laughed at the others.

We walked, laughing, to my backyard and sat on a bench.

"So really, you're the only woman in town?"

"The only. Once before, humans came and raided this town, taking all the women and girls here and carting them off. They found them dead later, some 20 miles away. My father disguised me as a boy, I was only a baby then, and they didn't really check. So there are around 50 boys, I'm the only girl."

          "Interesting."

He looked at me with serious passion just then. I leaned toward him, him toward me.

          "Lunch!" My father called out.

We jerked back, looking away for a second, then walked inside to eat.

*********************************************************

          What was I doing?

I looked at my food during the lunch Sylvia's father prepared for us.

I had never felt that way before... Not anything like it. Not even with Lenus or Wink.

You're just being stupid Lloyd.. I told myself... Stupid... falling in love... I groaned inwardly. I was in LOVE?

I set my spoon down beside the bowl. "Wonderful lunch, Methos. I have outworn my stay here... I think."

"No.. no!" Methos took the dishes and put them in the sink. "You can stay here for another night, then I'll have Sylvia show you the hotel."

"Yes, sir." I said. "Thank you again."

          "No problem, Lloyd."

He started doing his dishes, and Sylvia dried them off. Then we went outside as Sylvia took off her blade-covers and brought out her rapier I had not noticed she had. It was made of black steel.

She practiced while Methos and I talked.

"- so where did you come from?" He asked.

"Um. I was traveling with some friends and we were attacked by a man. I guess everyone thinks I'm dead. I'll try to find out were they went soon."

          "Ah, I see."

"Yeah." We watched Sylvia put her sword aside and start fighting moves, slashing at the air with her blades. They attached like Lenus's were. They were silver, curved, circular blades, the size of large dinner-plates, attached at the middle to a bronze wrist cover, and they had a spring where, at the right flick of her hand, would trigger and the blade would shoot off, hitting it's mark and fly back to her, and she would catch it with expertise.

"She's good at that." I said.

"Yes she is. He mother was too." Methos sighed. "Lenus was a beautiful woman, she ran off a few months after Sylvia was born. She just didn't like commitments."

"Yes. I know." I said without thinking.

          "What?"

"Oh.. I think I knew of the woman you talk about."

"Really?!" He looked at me with eager interest. "Where did you meet her?"

"In Tiberoa. Unfortunately she was killed in a battle with another man."

"Oh, I am sorry to hear this..." Methos said sadly. We continued to watch Sylvia.

Suddenly Karth popped his head out of the bushes.

"Hello Methos!" He said brightly as he struggled with the bush, eventually tripping over a root and landing face down.

Laughing Sylvia helped him up. "Hey!"

Methos was laughing too. "Not the first time eh?"

I watched in amusement as Karth struggled to get up, succeeding to fall again on his face. I chuckled quietly as Karth finally got up, a few scratches on his face but no harm done.

"Well, my dignity gone," Karth said, "I was wondering if Sylvia needed help with her poor mistakes as a fighter."

"Sure." Sylvia said, tripping him as he started forward. He caught himself with his arms, then pushed himself into a handstand, then flipped, landing on his feet, arms open wide as he faked mock power.

"Ah-ha?! You can't do that I bet!" He said mockingly.

"Sure I can!" She said. She back flipped landing on her hands, then lowered her legs into a split in mid-air. Then she lowered herself into the split on the ground, sitting on the ground, doing the splits sideways.

We clapped, Karth with a mock surprise face on. "Pretty good." He said.

Then she stood up, not bending her knees once. She then did a back flip in mid-air and landed in a forward split, then stood again, bowing, without bending her knees.

"Thank you I think, Gentlemen and Gentlemen." She bowed.

"Ah... I see the apprentice has become the master!" Methos laughed and Karth blushed.

"I can't even do that." Karth admitted.

"I can." I said. "Or at least used to. My master taught me every trick there was." I lowered into a side-split and stood again bending my knees slightly.

"Hn... Very good Lloyd. You'll have to teach some of the boys here, and Sylvia." Methos scratched his chin. "You might have to teach me."

"I've learned since I was around two."

"Oh, no help there." Karth said. He took his sword out and Sylvia took her wrist-blades off and put them down, picking up her sword. "C'mon Lloyd."

I unsheathed my sword and Methos went inside, excusing himself that he had a meeting to get ready for.

"Let's practice." Sylvia set up a kwank, a block of wood the shape of a man, in battle stance, spelled to keep the wood together, preventing it to rot or even get chopped. You dug into it as much as you wanted and it would repair itself.

"Alright kiddies, watch." Karth stepped forward and swung his sword up diagonally, spinning as he jumped in the air, twisting his sword through the middle section, then slashing upward, spinning in mid-air, landing on one knee, then jumping, taking his sword through the man's middle then jumping back to land with his sword raised high. "Water Snake!!"

I leapt then in forward, spinning to the right several times, raising myself and the wood in mid-air then cracking down the sword on the figures head, smashing it down back on its legs (It never tipped over). "Harps' Breath!"

I hadn't used that attack in a while.

Sylvia leapt in after me, digging her sword in the front, then pulling back, kicking the figure and back flipping in mid-air, bringing her sword down, slashing down the middle, then twisting and slashing the mid-section, landing in a crouch, her sword straight out behind her. "Scathing Darkness."

So she was dark type. I was non-elemental. Karth must be water.

We took several more turns, I using more additions I remembered how to do. Our calls filled the air, and I finally made the last cut.

"You're really good with the sword." Sylvia panted.

I wiped sweat from my brow. "Thank you."

"Well I gotta go." Karth said. "See you." He disappeared into the bush again.

We picked up our equipment and headed inside. After a few minutes, I said good-night and went to my room and fell asleep.

*********************************************************

Sylvia awoke to the light in her window. She stood and got dressed, and put on her armor. It was time to go find those people.

Her father was still sleeping so she stole out the door and went to the shed in the backyard and performed her magic.

          "Hello?" her friend Men said.

          "Hey Men."

"Hi Sylvia. What do you want to know?" Men was a newsperson. I got all the info I knew from her.

"Has there been any word of a group of seven through any towns? Five humans, a Wingly, and a Giantos?"

"Yes, actually. They are now heading to Rouge from Tiberoa."

"Really? Thank you. Keep me posted, okay?"

"Why what's so interesting. The leader cute?"

"No... I don't know. It's just important, okay?"

"Got it. Wait... they've just gone somewhere else? They've gotten to Rouge and now have gone through the sea into the ancient water city?"

          "What?! How could they?"

"I don't know. My guess is they're traveling to all the cities. I'd go to Mayfil and wait there for more news."

"Mayfil?! The Death City?!" I shivered. "They say that place is demonic."

          "Good, it's just your style."

          "Oh, thanks."

"Well. See you there. Take the little mirror with you, OK?"

"K." I turned off the magic and went inside the house. Lloyd and my father sat on the couch.

"-So you will be leaving today to search for them?"

          "Yes."

"I know where they are." I interrupted.

"Really?" Lloyd looked at me and stood in front of me. "Where."

"They are going through the ancient cities. Men's guess is that they are heading to Mayfil last. We are to go there."

          "We?" Methos asked.

"Yes 'we'. I'll have to show him the way." I pointed out.

          "True... Methos." Lloyd said.

"I guess you have to go. Prepare yourself Lloyd."

"I'll be back." Lloyd left up the stairs and dad came over to stand in front of me, grasping my hands.

"Are you sure." he looked me in the eye.

"Yes." I said looking back. "I will be back soon."

Lloyd came down the stairs, full silver armor on, belt-pack bulging. I shouldered my pack and kissed my father good-bye, then followed Lloyd out the door, putting on my wrist blades.

"You don't have your sword." Lloyd said.

"I don't need it. I know how to fight with these." I walked for the item shop, and bought several elements and potions.

"Ready to go?" Lloyd asked. I nodded and we walked through the gate and headed toward the far edge of Gloriano, taking off and losing ourselves in the air.

*********************************************************

Two days later we landed in Mayfil. It was dark and gloomy, everything was made of black stone.

"This is Mayfil?" Lloyd asked. His voice echoed in the empty halls.

          "Yes."

We walked in uncomfortable silence, our footsteps echoing in the halls, and we arrived soon under a glowing sphere held up by three pedestals.

"The Singet Sphere." We said together.

Suddenly there was a noise and we hid soundlessly behind some rocks. A monster I had never seen before floated by noisily and we held our breaths. It paused then passed by.

"We'd better make camp." I whispered after it was gone.

"Yes." He whispered back. We sat together against the wall, surrounded by rocks, hiding ourselves from view.

"I love you." he suddenly said.

"Me too..." I said back and cuddled next to him. We slept.

*********************************************************

I loved Sylvia... I don't know how, why... I just did.

She sat there, sleeping against my chest. I held her close and dozed in and out of consciousness, her stomach pushing in and out against mine. I wanted to be close to her as long as I could...

After we had been there a few days, attacked by several monsters in the process, we heard footsteps and voices coming down the hall. We hid.

"There it is." Dart said as he came into sight. I breathed.

"Don't move or say anything okay?" I whispered into Sylvia's ear. "I don't want them to see us here... not yet."

          "K." She whispered.

The whole group walked into the room, looking up at the Singet Sphere.

"Now we wait for Zieg." Rose said softly.

I was surprised she was still with them. Things must have been worked out between them.

"I wonder where he is." Albert said, sitting down on a boulder. The others did the same. "He's always here ahead of us."

"I know." a red figure said. Zeig appeared holding the Moon Mirror.

"DAD!" Dart shouted. "This stops NOW!"

He transformed into the fire dragoon and Sylvia sucked in her breath sharply. Rose looked around for a second then looked up at Zieg.

"Yaw!" Dart flew, sword outstretched, toward his dad. Suddenly blown back by a burst of energy, he fell backward and de-transformed.

          Zieg crushed the Moon Mirror.

The Singet Sphere broke and there was a sudden gust of wind and a screeching sound as the Moon fell in the distance.

"No!" Rose leapt forward but Zieg had gone.

"Now what?!" Dart yelled. "Do we just sit here? Waiting to die?!"

"C'mon Dart!" They ran out of the building, and we followed them quietly, hiding behind pillars outside the exit.

"Dead end?!" Dart's anguished cry called out.

"Need a flight?" a voice called and a strange beast flew down and landed beside the platform.

"The Wings of Saruon!!" Dart and the others jumped on.

          "Where to?"

"The Moon!" Dart called and they took off.

"That was interesting!" Sylvia walked to the edge of the platform and watched them go.

          "I must follow."

"I know. I will go with you."

"Thank you. I don't feel scared now..." She came up and hugged me and I kissed her.

We took off, hand in hand, following the wind-trail the thing left behind.

Hope of the Dragoon. Part Five.

Moon and Soul.

~

Lloyd felt fear as they flew through the air, following the green flying thing that was carrying Dart and the others. He felt fear ebbing in his heart, but having Sylvia there soothed his fear a bit.

"Dart.. Look!" Meru's voice was thrown back to us.

"That's it?!" he called across the wind.

Suddenly there was a rush of grey flying monsters. I recognized them immediately as Virages. Full form, and there were millions of them, pouring out of the moon.

I gaped at the sight and Sylvia gasped. Coming to sight was a gigantic white sphere, embedded in a tree-stump, with other tree branches broken, pointing toward it.

"The Divine Tree?!" I whispered to myself. Sylvia closed her eyes and uttered a prayer, then looked back.

The thing landed and fell to the earth dead, leaving its passengers there, sadly looking down at it, and then running toward the direction of the Moon.

We silently followed, side by side, Sylvia holding my hand, and I trembling with fear. I couldn't stop...

"Oh, gods help me?" I whispered. Sylvia stopped me and gave me a hug, kissing me right on the lips, I kissed back until we ran out of breath. Then we kept walking.

          "Thank you."

She was silent. Suddenly there was a dead end, a small shaft leading to the moon, with a hold big enough for a Giantos.

"Hop in!" I helped Sylvia in then jumped.

We hurtled up through the air, twisting and turning, thrown every which way. Finally we flew through the air and Sylvia landed perfectly on her feet. I didn't have such good skills.

"OWW!" I yelped as I landed on my back.

"Are you okay?!" She helped me up and I stood, leaning on her shoulder, my spine acing terribly. She gave me some sort of potion and the pain was instantly gone.

"Yeah I'm fine. What was that?" I asked as we walked forward again. I noticed I felt better, and not even fatigued in the slightest way.

"Hi-Potion. It can revive the dead even. Provided the person hasn't been more that 10 minutes dead."

"Really. If I die in this, bring me back okay? I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Just make sure the others think I'm dead."

          "Okay. Why?"

"I just want them to think that I was happy. If I die happy..."

We strode on in silence, hearing the clashes of swords and the attack commands, we stopped for a second, then continued on as they stopped.

Finally we arrived in a forest, in Mille Seasau. Hu?

          "Where are we?"

"I don't know..." I said. "Just keep going."

We followed for some time, then arrived through a portal in a building, with peopl- People?! Living here? It must be real... Just go along with it.

We walked some more, through the town, past the entrance through another portal, then looking down we yelped and opened our wings instantly. There was no floor!!!

Sylvia landed tentively. "It's safe. There must be an invisible floor."

We continued, walking towards our right, into a sheet of clouds, and suddenly there were spirits standing there, in a clearing in the clouds. One was Lavitz, the others were my Mother, Father, Lenus and a man I had not seen before.

          "Uncle? Mom?" Sylvia cried out.

"Mom? Dad? Lavitz?!" I stood, shocked.

Lavitz stepped forward. "I have forgiven you.. Lloyd. I didn't know your motives. I was so foolish as to attack, when my rage took me over. Also when I saw your memories."

"Don't get yourself in a bunch. I still regret what I did." I looked at my mother and father.

"We love you Lloyd. I know this hasn't been easy for you... but you must continue. I love you." My mother said, tears in her eyes. She disappeared.

"I love you son. I'll never forget you.." My father disappeared.

"Wait?!" I shouted, starting forward. Lavitz's spirit stopped me.

"Sylvia.." the man started. "You must go with this man. He will die. Bring him back with the Hi-Potion. He and you have more to do in this world." He disappeared.

"Lloyd, Sylvia. I was selfish... I.... I'm sorry Lloyd, for toying with you. Sylvia, for leaving you..." Lenus said. "I love you both, you should be together." She faded out.

Lavitz stood before me, holding a drop of blood on his palm. "This is mine you shed. You must keep it. It will give you strength."

It dropped slowly onto my sword. It melted into it, and the sword gave a shiver. Sylvia looked at him and I also.

"Goodbye, my adversary.. I hope to meet you in battle again." He bowed and Lavitz disappeared.

The Mist disappeared and we were suddenly around 80 yards behind Dart and the others, fighting Zieg, he fell, unconscious and Shana slowly moved toward the glimmering sphere in front of them. A White figure appeared in front of them, then spoke for a minute, then turned an sucked the power from the Moon Child, then took her place as she fell as Dart caught her and brought her back father from them, still not noticing us. The White figure took shape and melted with the Virage Embryo. His voice boomed out.

          "I am ALL POWERFUL!"

"Here I go..." I whispered and kissed Sylvia. Then started forward.

"I'll see you in a bit." She his behind a rock, where she could watch.

          "I am THE GOD!"

"The god? HA!!" I flew forward, landing beside Dart.

          "Lloyd?! So you aren't dead!"

"Nope. I still haven't got my utopia yet, I still have a purpose." I drew my sword and stood next to Dart, ready to fight.

"You are spoiling my utopia!" I shouted. "I will get my way!!"

I flew in the air, shooting beams on energy out and hitting Melbu Frahma several times. That was his name. I heard it whispered by Rose.

He waved all four of his ugly tentacles at me and I dodged them, taunting him. "Too slow.. oops... Missed me!" I managed to get in a few licks and he powered up an energy beam, which hit its target, right through my heart.

I fell slowly and something caught me. It was Dart, with Rose kneeling next to me as he put me down.

          "Lloyd...."

"Here Rose... " I said in a whisper, my body trembling with pain. "Take this." I handed her the Dragon Buster. "Take care of this bastard for me... okay?" She nodded.

"And Dart.. Here... this might help." I gave him the Divine Dragoon Spirit. To my surprise it glowed as he stared at it. "Good.. Bye..." I said no more and I smiled as darkness overcame me, my spirit free, for a while.

I watched at Lloyd died. I cried as the Giantos brought the body to lie before the rock I hid against. I cried as I knelt next to him, and took out the Hi-Potion. There was a battle going on behind me. I didn’t care. I carefully picked up Lloyd's limp body and took it behind the rock, then poured in the Hi-Potion under his tongue, and a few drops into his heart wound, then said a little prayer and hoped what they said would be true, even though I had seen it happen.

Darkness surrounded me, as I was fastened to the ground, somehow glued there. A light was coming faster... faster... Sylvia reached for me, and couldn't reach. Suddenly Lavitz stood by my side and pulled me to my feet, then lifted my paralyzed body to into her arms... "We forgive..." two voices said....

I cried out in spite of myself... the wound was gone, and the armor was gone... I was just in my black muscle shirt and black pants with boots. Sylvia was bent over me... genuinely relieved.

"Oh.. Sylvia!!" I sat up quickly and hugged her... "I love you!"

"Lloyd!" She hugged me for a long time and we suddenly broke up, as rocks came crashing down...

"I'm scared... will you come with me?" Zieg called to Rose...

"I will!" They took a hold of the Dragon Buster and flew through the air...

"Dad, Rose!" Dart called out... in his magnificent armor... he flew above them... and Melbu Frahma... the others already flying off.

"Good-bye Dart! I was glad to meet you.." The sword stabbed the heart of Melbu Frahma and he burst, sending out a shockwave that killing Rose and Zieg instantly... Two dragoon spirits rose in the air and left.

Sylvia and I flew in the air, out of the way and headed toward the ridge of mountains... back to the top of the mountain.

"I love you..." Sylvia said.. her eyes brimming with tears. "I love you as much as the couple who just died."

"Rose and Zieg..." I cried with her. We held each other as two Dragoon Spirits forced us apart. The Fire Dragoon Spirit came to me, and the Darkness Dragoon Spirit to Sylvia.

"Thank you." We said together and held each other as darkness fell.. surrounding us together in love.
