The Nightmare

Chapter 1 -

It felt so real. The way my feet pounded on the hard metal. I was breathing hard. Panting. How long have I been running? I didn’t know. It was then I realized I wasn’t alone. He was there. Tidus was running beside me. Holding my hand. I heard people behind us. Many people. Why were we running from them? What did we do? I felt my foot miss the ground as I fell. He stopped, and pulled me to my feet. We started running again. It was getting hard to breathe. I felt myself falling, a bright white light covered my eyes. I couldn’t see. Then, we were in a room. I was scared. My heart racing in my chest, it felt like it was pounding it’s way out. A spot light shined onto us.

“ah.” A scared whimper I made.

Tidus and I looked around for the source, we saw them. I put myself against his chest, his arms around me. We looked at them. They got into order, ready to shoot at us. Tidus gave them a nasty look, and then gazed at me. My eyes met his. O how I wish I could have kissed him once more. His eyes were as scared as mine. I smiled an empty smile. A tear ran down my cheek.

I heard the shots they fired. I felt them hit me. O the pain I felt. I started falling. Tidus was turned around from the impact, falling with me. We hit the cold steal with a thud. The pain was unbearable. I felt my life slowly slipping from my grasp. I looked at him. His eyes were closed. My hand was moving, why wasn’t his? Why were his eyes closed? My eyes fell upon the growing crimson stain on his back. Much like the one on my side. My hand stopped moving.

“Ah!” I awoke with a scream.

*I’ve been having that dream for awhile now. What does it mean?* I questioned myself. I felt sweat run down my forehead. I looked down at the glass of water place on the bedside table. The cool water running down my throat felt soothing enough to wash my worries away. My eyes traveled to the small window. The moon was full; it’s bright yellow light running into the room. I tried to fall back into peaceful slumber, but I found it hard.

“Why do I keep having that dream? What is it supposed to mean?” I said aloud, “It felt so real.” I sat up and took another gulp of the clear liquid.

I grabbed my side, as a sudden burning pain took over, my eyes blurred, and I hit the soft pillows below me.

I couldn’t feel my body. I was numb, and cold. He still wasn’t moving. He was completely still. My hearing was impaired, but I still heard the loud thud of boots on the metal. They were coming. To make sure we were dead. I wanted to be dead. I knew he was now. Why couldn’t I be?

“Hey! She’s still breathing!” One of them yelled.

“Now Rikku!” Paine yelled in the background. I saw a flash of a brilliant white light, and heard the sound of Paine’s blade slinging and slashing, and Rikku’s knives clanking. There were a few screams and shouts in pain, but none belonged to a female voice. Finally the light died out, and Rikku was by my side. Paine was standing guard.

“Yunie! Yunie! Hang on!” Rikku forced a potion down my throat. Then looked into my half closed eyes. “Hold on.”

“No. No. Stop. Give him a potion. Please Rikku.” I managed through a crackly voice.

“Rikku hurry! There’s more coming!” Paine yelled. Rikku nodded to her, then to me.

Rikku rushed to him, and checked for a pulse. “Yunie! He’s not dead! Barley alive.” I saw her shove quite a few potions down his throat. He stopped bleeding. He coughed loudly.

“Yuna…”He said softly.

I had hardly moved a bit. My hand, I stretched out to him. I felt so relieved that he was okay. I smiled.

“Thank you Rikku.” I said quietly. I felt the pain of my wound taking over again. Things were getting blurry; I found it hard to breath.

“Yunie! Hang on!” She practically cried as my eyes closed.

“Rikku! Get ready! Here they come!” Paine yelled.

“Wait Paine. I have to heal Yunie.”

Tidus had gotten up enough to get closer to me. He helped prop me up by laying my head on his lap.

“Rikku, you have more potions, right?” He asked.

“Um…I think so.” She wandered through her bag. “Open your eyes Yunie. Stay awake.”

“Paine! I’m all out of potions! Do you have any?” She asked

“Just a few. Here.” She tossed them to her.

I felt the thick, cold liquid slide down my throat. Not once, or twice, but three or more time.

(cough, cough)

“Rikku! Some help please!” Paine yelled. Her sword, clanking against the guns.

“Coming!” She said. “Tidus, get Yuna out of here.” She whispered. He nodded, and Rikku threw a smoke bomb. Tidus picked me up, and started running. She threw a series of smoke bombs before a flash bomb. My vision was blurring again. All the noise died out, and everything went dark.

Chapter 2 -

“Ah!”

“Yunie!!!! You’re all right! Thank goodness!” Rikku cried out as she hugged me.

“Rikku? What…Where am I?” I asked

“You’re in the hospital. Remember?”

I shook my head. “You were shot Yunie. So was Tidus.” She said.

“You mean, that wasn’t just a dream…Wait a second, if that was real then…O my god! Where’s Tidus?!” I yelled.

“I’m right here.”

“Tidus?” I said fast.

I ran to him and wrapped my arms around him. “Hey! Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. You shouldn’t be getting up so fast like that. It’s bad for you.” He joked.

“Then why are you already up and walking around?” I asked him.

“Because I wasn’t the one sleeping for a week.” He said, and returned the hug.

“I was out that long?” I asked.

He nodded, and I turned to Rikku, she nodded too.

“Yuna, you’re awake finally.” Paine said, walking in.

I nodded.

“Why were those people after us?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” Tidus said, sitting down. I looked at Rikku and Paine, the both shook their heads. I sat next to him. I was puzzled. I didn’t understand why we were shot at. Why were they after us? What did we do?

“What I’d like to know is who it is than sent them after us.” Tidus said.

“Well, you’ll never know unless you go back their.” Paine suggested.

“No way!” “Are you Crazy?” “What the hell kind of suggestion is that?” We all shouted.

“Listen, if you don’t want to know, or not curious, fine. But you’ll never know if they come back after you!” She argued back.

“She’s got a point.” Tidus said.

“What? You can’t be serious! They nearly killed you! Both of you! If we hadn’t come and found you, you both would’ve died!” Rikku yelled at him.

“Not if we go more prepared.” I said.

They all looked at me. “Well, I mean, none of us expected to find Tidus down there. We were only prepared to defend three. And then, when we couldn’t defend ourselves because the had our weapons, all we have to do is, expect that.” I said.

“They probably wouldn’t do the same thing twice, unless they were really, really stupid.” Tidus said. Rikku stood there mouth open. Her point had been defeated.

“Yunie, please don’t go. I don’t want you, or Tidus, to die.” She said. “Please?”

“Rikku, trust me. We know what we’re doing.” I answered.

“Fine. But if you’re going to go, at least get some more rest, you’ll need. Me and Paine will stock up. Tidus!” She said. “If you’re going back down there too, you might need this.” Rikku said. “It’s a sword form one of the dress spheres. You remember how to use it, right?” Rikku said.

“Yeah.” He answered.

“Get some sleep Yuna.” Paine said, walking out.

“Okay.” I answered.

I stood up and walked to my bed. I lied down, and closed my eyes. Tidus slept too, next to me.
