Disclaimer: It’s a long story

Part 1: The Prologue

Once upon a time in an era where magic and destruction ruled the earth, there was a valley of black mages and white mages. Together they worked to make a peaceful living, where the white mages grew the food and the black mages did all of the metal work. One day when the black mages weren’t making enough metal they blamed it on the white mages for now making enough food. When much fighting broke out the tribe leaders, Nooj (the black mage leader) and Barali (the white mage leader), decided to go to war against each other. This was a bloody and long battle in which Nooj lost his left leg, but after much fighting the tribes decided to work on one last project together…and that was to erect a mountain range between the volcano (where the black mages worked) and the valley (where the white mages worked) so that the two tribes could never fight again.

Part 2: The Girls

16 Years Later

After 16 years the two races had settled down and Nooj and Barali had each married a tribe woman and had each started a family (Nooj married LeBlanc and Barali married Rikku). Both Barali and Nooj each had one child both had a daughter (but little did they know at the same time on the same day.) who were now lovely young ladies. Nooj’s daughter was named Paine who was a strong-willed, powerful, black mage (to see what she looks like go to this website:http://www.fffanatics.net/images/x2-13.jpg she’s the one with the silver hair for those of you who didn’t know). Barali’s daughter was named Yuna and she was pretty much the opposite of Paine she was more shy, not very strong, and kind of clumsy (to see what she looks like go here: http://www.fffanatics.net/images/x2-17.jpg she’s the one on the far left). But today was a very special day for them because today was their 16th birthday and on every mages 16th birthday they each got one wish of whatever they wanted and they had each thought of the perfect idea.

Part 3: Their Wish

“So Yuna, the time has finally come what shall be your wish?” Barali said to his daughter while standing in the middle of the ring of white mages that surrounded them who were eagerly awaiting Yuna’s answer. “Father I have made my decision and my wish is…I wish to go over the mountain to go see the black mage city!” At this remark the crowd stirred into a questioning fit. Barali quickly turned to his daughter and asked “You can’t possibly do that! There’s no telling what could happen to you! And I simply cannot allow that!” “But you said that I can heave any wish that I want!” “But is that truly what you want?” “Yes it is.” Barali turned to the crowd and then said “My good people! If this is truly what my daughter wants then so it shall be done! But before we release her I shall bestow upon her the white mage tribal fire bomb! In the event, that she should run into trouble!” Barali then handed his daughter the bomb and Yuna was thrilled!

Nooj was also having the same problem with Paine but he to eventually succumbed, to his daughters wishes as well and it was settled the girls would leave in the morning for their journey.

Part 4: Clash of Tribes

The next day the two tribes woke up early to see the girls off. When they left all they could think about was that they were going to see the others forbidden land. It wasn’t until noon that they reached the zenith of the mountain range and when they did they couldn’t see through the snow so they ran into each other (quite literally). “*Gasp!* A white mage!” said Paine jumping to her feet. “Oh crap a black mage! I was afraid of this!” Yuna said quickly scrambling to her feet. “Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, Wateraga!” yelled Paine quickly casting her spells. “Reflect!” said Yuna and a barrier appeared her and reflected all of Paine’s attacks back at her. But Paine was quick on her feet and dodged all of them and then fired another attack “Demi!” she shouted “Shell!” Called Yuna and then prayed to heal her self “All right it’s on now!” Paine aimed her staff at Yuna and said “Death!” Yuna took the blow and a swarm of white feathers fell to the ground in a huge circular pile “Well that takes care of her!” said Paine with a sneer. Just when she was about to walk off a bright light appeared from behind her and when the light faded there was Yuna just as she was before. “How’d you do that?” “I never reveal my secrets to and enemy!” “No really! Cause I see that I can’t kill you I just won’t even try anymore so how’d you do that?” Yuna stared at Paine for a moment and then responded in saying “Its called auto life all white mages are born with it.” “That’s cool…all black mages are born with the death ability.” They sat there for a moment in silence then Yuna said “My names Yuna.” She said while extending her arm for Paine to shake “Paine.” She said bluntly and they shook hands. When they released Yuna said “So what brings you to the mountains any way?” “Well, I’m actually on the way to see your town.” “Really? Cause I’m on my way to see yours! But I can only be there to see it I can’t stay long though I wish I could.” “Same here, gawd! I really wanna stay and look around for a bit but my father would kill me!” “Mine too! If only there were some way to…hey wait…I have a great idea!” “Spill!”

Part 5: Yuna’s Plan

“How about we switch places?” Paine gave Yuna a puzzled look and the asked “What?! Are you crazy?! How are we gonna do that?!” “Well…I’ve heard of this thing called a race change where you can turn into any race that you want all you have to do is concentrate!” “But even if we could do this “race change” thing it would never work! We look to different from each other!” “Well yes that’s true but black mages have hats and white mages have hoods so if you just keep your head down and your eyes open then we should be fine!” “Well…it sounds kinda risqué but I’m in! So how do we go about this whole race change thing?” “Well from what I’ve heard all we have to do is give each other out dresspheres.” “Alright.” So Paine and Yuna pulled their dresspheres out of their pockets and gave them to each other and when they took them a shroud of light surrounded Paine and a shroud of darkness surrounded Yuna. When the shrouds disappeared Yuna was now dressed as a black mage and Paine was now dressed as a white mage (Note: To see what the look like now refer back to chapter 2 but if your lazy like me here they are again: http://www.fffanatics.net/images/x2-13.jpg and http://www.fffanatics.net/images/x2-17.jpg ). “Whoa! That was awesome!” Exclaimed Yuna “Yeah I guess that was pretty cool. Where’d you lean how to do that?!” “Let’s just say that my father can’t keep too many things from me for too long!” “Alright then I guess it’s off to the white mage city for me then!” “And I’m on to the black mage city!” Paine put her hood on and Yuna adjusted her hat and then said “Ok we’ll meet back here tomorrow night it shouldn’t be too hard ...my fathers not very perceptive he shouldn’t even notice.” “Yeah mine either. Alright well I’ll see you then!” They shook hands one last time and went their separate ways and when they got to the other side they marveled at the wonder that was set in front of them.

Part 6: Their Return

“Yuna you’re finally back!” Barali said as he brought who he thought was Yuna into a fatherly hug “So how was the black mage city?” “Um…it was…nice…but I’m kinda tired so I think I’m gonna take a shower and just go to bed Bara- I mean father!” Paine said quickly as she rushed into the house “Hmmm…what’s up with her.” Barali sighed to himself as he walked in after her. “Yuna what’s wrong?” Barali yelled to her through the bathroom door “Nothing! Just gonna take a shower!” “Your voice sounds deeper are you sure nothings wrong?” “No! It’s nothing I swear!” “Ok. I wonder…nah!” Barali walked off to attend to his duties.

Yuna did finally make it to the black mage city but barely in one piece, the demon guard dogs protecting the entrance to the black mage city had almost torn her to shreds (Because they did not recognize her scent ). But soon Nooj heard the commotion and when he came running he found Yuna and mistaked her for Paine “Fire!” Nooj said from the top of the gates. The dogs fled in fear of being burnt. Nooj yelled down to the guards on the inside of the gate to bring down the drawbridge. The gate fell with a loud thud and Nooj rushed out and embraced his “daughter” Yuna stood awe-struck on the bridge but not from Nooj hugging her but from what lied behind him. She had made it! She was now standing in her greatest dream and also her greatest fear…the black mages helm she now stood on the ground of the forbidden land that she was restricted to never see. Nooj released her from the binding hug and asked “How was your journey?” “Fine um…father.” “Why your voice what happened? You sound so weak.” “Yes well…climbing mountains certainly does take a lot out of you.” “Hmmm…I’ve never known you to have any degree of energy taken out of you. Weather it’s making metal or climbing mountains. But maybe it’s just an off day. Come, we shall go and settle in for the night.” Yuna walked through the city with her hat down and her head but looked up occasionally to marvel at the glorious city but who knows what challenges lie ahead for her.

Part 7: One Big Knot

“Good morning Yuna!” Barali called to his “daughter” Paine immediately wormed her way under the covers so that Barali could not find her out. “Come on time to start your daily training!” “Training? But it’s like 6 in the morning!” “Actually its 5 now come on!” Paine reluctantly got up after he left and put on her cloths and then walked out of the house into the immense grassland to see that all the other mages were already up and were helping their children prefect their skills and it was then that she realized just how much trouble she had gotten herself into. “Come Yuna we shall start with a simple cure test.” “O-o-ok.” Barali then took a knife from his back pocket and stabbed his hand then took it back out of the wound that he had just created. Paine stood there in shock she couldn’t believe what he had just done. She stood wide-eyed watching the thick red blood drip slowly down his arm. “Come on Yuna any day now!” “Huh? Oh right I’m like supposed to cure you now or something right?” “Yes Yuna! Now stop spacing out and heal me already!” “Ok um…here goes!” Paine put her staff to his hand and said “Cure!” The wound automatically sealed itself its self back up and no more damage was done. “Hey this is just like casting my black mage spells.” Paine murmured to herself. “What’s that dear?” “Nothing!” She quickly answered. “Now lets try something a little harder.” So they continued with her training and Paine helped out in the fields. But Barali started to get suspicious he figured that his daughter was never so skillful, strong, and willing to do work since…ever! So he would keep a close eye on her just to make sure.

“Come on Paine put some more power into your spells! You’ve never been afraid to hit me before!” “Alright I’ll try!” Yuna yelled to Nooj across the training field which was located in the center of the volcano. It was actually a huge slab concrete that had chains attached to the corners of the “arena” and were bolted to the sides of the volcanoes inner wall. “Firaga!” Yuna yelled and heaved a fireball at Nooj on the other side. “Nice…shot.” Nooj said while clutching his stomach and falling to the ground. “Paine…quickly…heal me.” “Uh…uh…Cure!” “What are you doing?! You can’t cast white mage spells! Now hurry up and get a potion!” “Oh! Um…right!” Yuna dug down into her pocket and grabbed a potion. “What was that?!” “I-I-I” Yuna then rushed off out of the volcano, back through the village, and up into her room, and locked the door behind her. At this point Nooj really started to get suspicious and would keep a closer eye on her.

Part 8: The Meeting

“Ack!” Paine said quietly to herself as she landed on her butt after she had jumped from her window in the two-story white mage house. “Time for me to go back where I belong this white mage business is too easy for me.” Paine said as she snuck the valley. She then reached the base of the mountain, strapped on her staff to her back, and began to ascend. But little did she know that not too far her lurking in the shadows was Barali keeping a very watchful eye on her.

*Thump* was the sound of the stake falling to the ground to the dogs from the wall overhead. (Sorry I know that’s kinda clichéd but hey live wit it!) Yuna had come prepared this time so that she was sure that the dogs would not attack her again and alert the town “Hmmm…how am I going to get down from here? Aha I’ve got it! I’ll just use my ice power and freeze a path from the ground back up to me yeah it should work!” So Yuna aimed her staff at the ground and said “Blizzaga!” and immediately a stream of ice came out of her staff and she curved it back up to her. “Ok here goes!” Yuna strapped her wand onto her back and then “surfed” her way down to the ground. “Well that wasn’t too hard!” She said as she landed at the bottom “Now to erase the evidence firaga!” And a stream of fire spit out form her staff decreasing her ice path into a mere puddle. “Now that, that’s finished time to climb!” But following not far behind her was Nooj because he had very sharp ears and he heard what she was doing and decided to follow her where ever she was going.

It was about 12:00PM when Paine had almost reached the zenith of the mountain and she saw a shadowy figure walking towards her since the fog was gone she figured that it was Yuna and began to run towards her and when Yuna saw this she to ran towards Paine. When the two girls met in the middle they hugged and when they released Paine said “Ok we’ve gotta switch back now I think you’re fathers on to us!” “Yeah I think yours is too! But how did you like our little valley?” “It was awesome! Better then I thought it would be man wouldn’t it be great if we could get our tribes back together? Then I could come and visit all of the time!” “Yeah it would be! But that of course will never happen but I loved you’re volcano it’s so cool! I mean I’ve never seen anything like it and I wish I could come and see it again sometime but it does never gonna happen.” “It most certainly won’t!” Came a voice from behind them it was Barali and he had just head the whole conversation. “Yuna how could you do this?! This is horrible you are never aloud to venture into the mountains again or mingle with these scoundrels again!” Who are you calling a scoundrel, low-life!” They all whipped around even though they all knew the voice very well it was Nooj and he had come to end this once and for all.

~End Part 8~

Part 9: Busted!

“Barali it’s been a while and I can’t tell you how much I’ve waited for the day that I can destroy you and your miserable tribe!” “Bring it on I can take anything that you’ve got to throw at me!” Barali said while charging up a whit glowing beam in his hand and Nooj powered up a red beam in his but the girls were quick on their feet and stood firmly in the middle of them back to back Yuna facing her father and Paine facing hers with their staffs out in front of them. “Father I can’t let you do this I know Paine to well and I love the black mage city and I don’t want to loose a friend over some stupid fight that happened 16 years ago! Come on Paine lets end this!” Paine nodded at Yuna’s powerful words and dug into her left pocket and Yuna dug into her right one and pulled their dresspheres out and then joined hands and a mixture of light and darkness shrouded them for a moment and when it disappeared there stood Yuna and Paine back in their original state. “Father, I agree with Yuna this is all over some stupid fight and if you want to destroy Barali you’ll have to go through me first. So here are you’re options: One we can end this right now, destroy the mountain range, and all live in happiness together again, or two you can slaughter your own flesh and blood, plus shed Yuna’s blood and have your vengeance on Barali.” Yuna nodded at what Paine had just said. “Well then I guess there’s only one choice…”

~End Part 9~

Part 10: Harmony

“Paine I can’t hurt you nor destroy you, you’re my daughter…so I guess the only choice is to make peace.” “Yes it would seem that way.” Said Barali and the two girls lowered their staffs and stepped off to the side. Nooj and Barali stood there for a moment and then Barali extended his hand and Nooj extended his and they shook on it with joyful smiles and the girls quickly exchanged glances and then jumped up into the air and high 5’d each other “We did it!” They both said simultaneously and laughed. “Well now you two seem happy.” “Ok so now that we’ve made peace how do you plan on destroying this huge mountain range?!” Said Nooj confused as ever about what was going through their heads. “Oh don’t worry about that…we have a plan!” Said Yuna.

“Ready?!” yelled Paine into their newly invented communication device that crossed over the mountain range. “You bet cha!” said Yuna back to her. “Ok one…” Said Paine “Two!” “Three!” They both said and threw their fire bomb’s down at the base of the mountains as their tribes stood at a safe distance away from the base. The bombs exploded and totally annihilated the mountain range and the two tribes stood there for a moment and stared at each other when Yuna and Paine ran to each other where the mountain ranger had once stood. Paine faced the white mage tribe and Yuna faced the black mage tribe. “We are one!” They both yelled and threw their arms and the two tribes rushed past them and happy shouts of joy and reunion could be heard for miles shared between the tribes then Yuna and Paine faced each other. “We did it! We really did it Paine!” Yuna said while embracing her new life-long friend. “Yeah we sure did…but one thing.” “Yeah sure what?” “Too much love.” “Oh sorry.” Yuna said and then released her friend and put her arm out like she wanted to arm wrestle Paine and Paine took her hand into Yuna’s “Welcome to my life!” They both said.
